16. Amphiphilic Molecules in Aqueous Solution
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to investigate amphiphilic molecules in aqueous solution. The work was divided into two parts. In the first part the effects of different counterions on phase behavior was investigated, while the second part concerns the 1-monooleoyl-rac-glycerol (MO)/n-octyl-β-D-glucoside (OG)/2H2O-system. 17. NMR diffusion studies on lyotropic liquid crystalline systems
Sammanfattning : The pulsed field gradient fourier transform nuclear magnetic resonance (PFG-FTNMR) method to measure translational diffusion coefficients in multicomponent systems has been applied to amphiphilic molecules forming liquid crystalline phases.By analyzing the concentration dependence of the diffusion coefficients of water and amphiphile in a micellar system of N,N-dimethyldodecy lamine oxide (DDAO) in water it was possible to conclude that the micelles formed were polydisperse in size and shape. 18. Interfacial Properties of Lipid Liquid Crystalline Nanoparticles
Sammanfattning : Lipid liquid crystalline nanoparticles are studied for their potential as biocompatible carriers for pharmaceutical, food and cosmetic applications. Their potential as delivery vehicles is due to their nanometer size, their controllable structure and physical properties and their large carrying capacity of a wide range of molecules. LÄS MER
19. Gaussian conversion protocols forcubic phase state generation
Sammanfattning : This licentiate thesis will introduce the background of the appended paper. The scope of this thesis is to find a Gaussian conversion protocol that allows one to prepare cubic phase states, which are resourceful states for achieving universality in continuous-variable quantum computation. 20. Static and time-dependent mechanical behaviour of preserved archaeological wood : Case studies of the seventeenth century warship Vasa
Sammanfattning : Wooden objects have been widely used in the history of humanity and play an important role in our cultural heritage. The preservation of such objects is of great importance and can be a challenging task. This thesis investigates the static and time-dependent mechanical behaviour of archaeological oak wood from the Vasa warship. LÄS MER
