1. Improved dose response modeling for normal tissue damage and therapy optimization
Sammanfattning : The present thesis is focused on the development and application of dose response models for radiation therapy. Radiobiological models of tissue response to radiation are an integral part of the radiotherapeutic process and a powerful tool to optimize tumor control and minimize damage to healthy tissues for use in clinical trials. 2. Structural pathology and functional analysis of vitamin K-dependent protein S
Sammanfattning : Protein S deficiency is an autosomal dominant trait affecting around 10% of families thrombophilic families. The high affinity interaction of approximately 60% of protein S with C4b -binding protein (C4BP) has raised a complicated situation for the diagnosis of deficiency states. LÄS MER
3. Translational perspectives on MSMB and CRISP3 expression and regulation in prostate cancer
Sammanfattning : Prostate cancer is currently the most common form of cancer in Sweden. Currently, the only biomarker used in the clinic is serum PSA, and there is a great need for new biomarkers that may increase the diagnostic and prognostic information so that better predictions can be made, and treatment may be tailored. 4. Dynamic magnetic resonance imaging of the breast : imaging features for diagnosis and prognosis of breast cancer
Sammanfattning : The general aim of the present thesis was to identify and study dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (CE-MRI) features that contribute to the diagnosis and may help in predicting prognosis in breast cancer. Study I studied the kinetic and morphological MR features and their diagnostic power were studied in a total of 92 women with 109 histopathologically verified breast lesions. LÄS MER
5. Aspects of ZnT8 autoimmunity in childhood type 1 diabetes
Sammanfattning : Type 1 diabetes is one of the most common chronic diseases in childhood and adolescence with an increasing incidence worldwide. It is an autoimmune disease with many autoimmune markers, where the zinc transporter 8 autoantibody (ZnT8A) is the most recent autoantibody discovered. LÄS MER
