11. Quantum Transport Theory in Graphene
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we focus on different aspects of electron transport in nanostructured graphene (such as graphene nanoribbons). Wedevelop and implement numerical methods to study quantum coherent electron transport on an atomistic level, complemented by analytical calculations based on the Dirac approximation valid close to the points $\vec{K}$ and $\vec{K}^\prime$ in the graphene Brillouin zone. 12. Structural and biochemical analysis of two copper proteins - plastocyanin from spinach and nitrite reductase from Rhodobacter sphaeroides 2.4.3
Sammanfattning : Plastocyanin from spinach and nitrite reductase from Rhodobacter sphaeroides 2.4.3 are two copper-containing proteins that are involved in biological electron transport chains: plastocyanin operates in photosynthesis and nitrite reductase takes part in the denitrification pathway. 13. A molecular guide to efficient charge transport : Coordination materials for photovoltaic cells
Sammanfattning : Emerging solar energy conversion and energy storage technologies play a vital role in solving the present energy crisis and achieving carbon net zero. Currently, they are limited by the use of inefficient, unstable and expensive charge transport materials. LÄS MER
14. HNO3-Induced Atmospheric Corrosion of Copper, Zinc and Carbon Steel
Sammanfattning : The role of nitric acid (HNO3) on the atmospheric corrosion of metals has so far received little or no attention. However, the last decades of decreasing sulphur dioxide (SO2) levels and unchanged HNO3 levels in many industrialized countries have resulted in an increased interest in possible HNO3-induced atmospheric corrosion effects. 15. Heavy-ion transport codes for radiotherapy and radioprotection in space
Sammanfattning : Simulation of the transport of heavy ions in matter is a field of nuclear science that has recently received attention in view of its importance for some relevant applications. Accelerated heavy ions can, for example, be used to treat cancers (heavy-ion radiotherapy) and show some superior qualities with respect to more conventional treatment systems, like photons (x-rays) or protons.
