  1. 21. Effects of Environmental Factors on maternal Choice and Gene Dispersal in Plants

    Författare :Teklehaimanot Haileselassie; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; siring ability; Maternal effect; genetically modified crops; risk assessment; morphological markers; herbivory; Cucumis sativus; Växtekologi; pollen tube growth rate; Plant ecology; Nicotiana alata;

    Sammanfattning : Gene dispersal through pollen is affected by both abiotic and biotic environmental factors. In this study, I mainly investigated the effect of environmental factors: nutrient availability, simulated herbivory and floral morphology (flower colour), on the siring success of competing pollen donors and fitness of the resulting offspring. 2. 22. Inhibition of light-induced colour reversion of wood-containing papers by means of coating

    Författare :Helena Fjellström; Hans Höglund; Magnus Paulsson; Arthur Ragauskas; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; High-yield pulp; CTMP; birch; light-induced; ageing; photo-stabilising; lignin; coating; pigment; kaolin; calcium carbonate; titanium dioxide; binder; FWA; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The main purpose of this thesis was to find ways to maintain a low level of light‐induceddiscolouration at an increased addition of mechanical and chemimechanical pulps in coated highqualityfine paper and magazine paper grades. Current technology allows the production of highyieldpulps such as thermomechanical and chemimechanical pulps with properties suitable formanufacturing high‐quality paper or paperboard with a low basis weight. 3. 23. Bush Encroachment and the Role of Browse in Cattle Production : An ecological perspective from a bush encroached grazing system, Olifants Drift, Kgatleng District, Southeast Botswana

    Författare :Nkobi Moleele; Norman Owen-Smith; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :savannas; bush encroachment; carrying capacity; browse; biomass; range degradation; colour infrared photographs; Landsat Thematic Mapper; mid infrared bands; tannins; toxins; aromatic substances; Dicrostachys cinerea; Grewia flava; NDVI; Olifants Drift; Botswana; naturgeografi; Physical Geography;

    Sammanfattning : The increase in density and cover of woody plant species is coincident with the introduction of cattle in southern Africa, and it is a wide spread phenomenon in the savannas of the world. The causes are little understood, but can only be speculated to be either anthropogenic or natural or a combination of both. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Geographical Information Systems (GIS) as a tool for analysis and communications of multidimensional data

    Författare :Åke Sivertun; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Geographic Information Systems GIS ; Landscape Ecology; Artificial Drainage; Distributed Models; Environmental Change; Environmental Impact; Environmental Engineering; Landscape History; Drainage Technology; Historical Geography; Multidimensional and Multi-temporal Analysis; Hyperpixel; Colour Coding and Presentation of Multidimensional Data; Geografiska informationssystem;

    Sammanfattning : An integrating approach, including knowledge about whole systems of processes, is essential in order to reach both development and environmental protection goals. In this thesis Geographical Information Systems (GIS) are suggested as a tool to realise such integrated models. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Modelling appearance printing : Acquisition and digital reproduction of translucent and goniochromatic materials

    Författare :Alina Pranovich; Daniel Nyström; Sasan Gooran; Jeppe Revall Frisvad; Sergiy Valyukh; Peter Stefan Nussbaum; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Material appearance; 3D printing; Goniochromatism; Translucency;

    Sammanfattning : Colour perception is fundamental to our everyday experiences, allowing us to communicate and interpret visual information effectively. Yet, replicating these experiences accurately poses a significant challenge, particularly in the context of full-colour 3D printing. LÄS MER
