  1. 21. Temporal climate impacts of using willow and logging residues for district heating in Sweden

    Författare :Torun Hammar; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Using bioenergy to replace fossil fuels has been adopted as a climate mitigation measure, since less greenhouse gases are expected to be released into the atmosphere. In Sweden, the share of bioenergy is relative high (about 23% of total consumption including peat), with a relatively large proportion originating from domestically produced forest biomass. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Kilometer-scale climate modeling of precipitation in the Nordic region

    Författare :Petter Lind; Erik Kjellström; Erik Kolstad; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Convection-permitting climate modeling; Precipitation; Extremes; Atmospheric convection; Nordic region; Climate change; Observations; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi;

    Sammanfattning : Future changes in precipitation, in particular extremes, are among the most impact-relevant consequences of a warming climate driven by increases in atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations. Still, climate model projections of future changes in regional and local precipitation remain uncertain. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Tensions in Transdisciplinary Research : A study of a climate research group

    Författare :Lakin Anderson; Caroline Waks; Linda Wedlin; Fredrik Tell; Peter Dobers; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Transdisciplinary Research; Tension; Paradox; Organization; Science Work; Sustainability; Research Groups; Business Studies; Företagsekonomi;

    Sammanfattning : In a time of sustainability predicaments and ‘grand challenges’, transdisciplinarity has been put forward as an approach through which researchers can engage with societal transformation for a better world. This study examines tensions that arise in the on-the-ground efforts of researchers to establish and manage a transdisciplinary research group within a Norwegian university. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Climate change impacts on aquatic consumer communities

    Författare :Shuntaro Koizumi; Pär Byström; Ryan Sponseller; Jonathan Shurin; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Climate change; warming; browning; aquatic consumers; zooplankton; benthic insects; fish; ecosystem experiment; environmental science; miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Climate change represents a serious threat to aquatic ecosystems, with an increase in lake temperatures already observed that is expected to continue in the near future. Aside from the direct effects of warming, climate change is also partially responsible for the browning of lakes. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Paleoclimate and seasonality on Sumatra during the Late Glacial and Holocene : Insights from biomarkers and climate model simulations

    Författare :Lars Petter Hällberg; Malin Kylander; Frederik Schenk; Rienk Smittenberg; David Naafs; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Holocene; Late Glacial; biomarkers; organic geochemistry; climate model; hydrogen isotopes; stable isotopes; paleoclimate; alkanes; GDGT; brGDGT; H-GDGT; bacterial community shifts; paleothermometry; precipitation reconstruction; peat; geokemi; Geochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Deep atmospheric convection in the Indo-Pacific Warm Pool (IPWP) is a key driver of the Hadley and Walker Circulations that modulate the Asian-Australian monsoons and the El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO). Temperature and rainfall seasonality, i.e. LÄS MER
