21. Targeted disruption and subcellular distribution of phospholipase C 3
Sammanfattning : Phosphatidylinositol specific phospholipase C (PLC) isoforms are key enzymes in the signal transduction pathway that control many cellular processes including cell proliferation, hormone secretion and egg fertilization. The PLCβ3 gene, assigned to the multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN1) locus, has been implicated in endocrine tumorigenesis due to the low expression in several endocrine tumors. LÄS MER
22. Cellular immune responses in allogeneic and xenogeneic transplantation models
Sammanfattning : The introduction of immunosuppressive agents and improvements in surgical techniques and ancillary care has made allotransplantation a routine procedure. However, improvements in short-term graft survival rates have not been accompanied by a similar improvement in long-term outcome due to the process of therapy-resistant chronic allograft rejection. 23. Characterization of the cellular receptor for coxsackievirus and adenovirus
Sammanfattning : CAR, the cellular receptor for coxsackievirus and adenovirus, was discovered in 1997. CAR is an evolutionary conserved transmembrane protein that belongs to the CTX subfamily within the large immunoglobulin superfamily. At the intracellular tail, CAR has a PDZ domain binding motif suggesting that CAR is part of a larger protein complex. LÄS MER
24. Uptake, induction and distribution of ubiquinone and a-tocopherol
Sammanfattning : Ubiquinone (UQ) and a-tocopherol are the major lipid-soluble antioxidants in animal tissues. Appropriate amounts of these lipids have to be present in tissues and subcellular membranes. Uptake from the diet was investigated and it was also analyzed to which extent the tissue amount may be increased by induction of biosynthesis. LÄS MER
25. Nuclear compartmentalization of viral and cellular proteins involved in gamma-herpes virus (EBV and HHV-8) mediated cellular transformation
Sammanfattning : The aim of the work described in this thesis has been to characterize the nuclear compartmentalization of cellular and viral proteins involved in EBV or HHV-8 mediated cellular transformation. We have studied the EBV encoded EBNA-5 and its association with the PML nuclear bodies (NBs) and nuclear inclusions. LÄS MER
