  1. 1. Crystallographic Studies of Ternary Chalcogenides and Organic Semiconductors

    Författare :Céline Besnard; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; phase equilibria; Kondenserade materiens egenskaper:struktur; egenskaper termiska och mekaniska ; kristallografi; fasjämvikt; crystallography; thermal and mechanical properties; Condensed matter:stucture; thiazine derivatives; quinoline derivatives; hexacene-quinone; substituted tetracene; rubrene derivatives; manganese telluride; organic semiconductors; niobium sulfide intercalation compounds; thiospinel;

    Sammanfattning : X-ray diffraction methods have been used to study the crystal structure of different compounds, both organic and inorganic. The inorganic compounds were all synthesized by solid state reactions. A new compound, Re4As6S3, was synthesized and its structure was solved by Rietveld methods. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The promotion of safe behaviours at the community level : evaluation of a bicycle helmet-wearing campaign among 5- to 12-year-old children

    Författare :Céline Farley; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Safe behaviour; community-based program evaluation; bicycle helmet; voluntary behavioural change; socio-economic context. Säkert beteende; samhällsbaserad programutvärdering; cykelhjälm; frivillig beteendeändring; socioekonomiskt sammanhang.;

    Sammanfattning : Bicycle-related injuries are among the most important public health problems in childhood. In the Montérégie Region (Québec, Canada), at the beginning of the 1990s, a 4-year community-based program aimed at promoting voluntary bicycle helmet wearing among children aged 5-12 was implemented. Sammanfattning : Sustainable wood nanotechnologies that combine optical transmittance and mechanical performance are interesting for new functionalities utilizing transparency. Wood is a sophisticated bio-based material with a natural hierarchical, anisotropic and porous structure. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Bone-compliant cements for vertebral augmentation

    Författare :Céline Robo; Cecilia Persson; Elizabeth Tanner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; bone cement; low modulus; vertebroplasty; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot materialvetenskap; Engineering Science with specialization in Materials Science;

    Sammanfattning : Acrylic bone cement based on poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) is commonly used during vertebral augmentation procedures for the treatment of osteoporosis-induced vertebral compression fractures. However, the high stiffness of the cement compared to that of the surrounding trabecular bone is presumed to facilitate the formation of new fractures shortly after surgery. LÄS MER
