  1. 1. Discovery of fiber-active enzymes in Populus wood

    Författare :Henrik Aspeborg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Populus; xylogenesis; secondary cell wall; cellulose; hemicellulose; microarrays; transcript profiling; carbohydrate-active enzyme; glycosyltransferase; glycoside hydrolase;

    Sammanfattning : Renewable fibers produced by forest trees provide excellentraw material of high economic value for industrialapplications. Despite this, the genes and corresponding enzymesinvolved in wood fiber biosynthesis in trees are poorlycharacterized. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Genetic Profiling in Soft Tissue Sarcoma

    Författare :Princy Francis; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; oncology; synovial sarcoma; prognosis; Cytology; SS18-SSX; intratumor heterogeneity; aCGH; array comparative genomic hybridization; gene expression analysis; microarray; cDNA; Soft tissue sarcoma; cancerology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer;

    Sammanfattning : Soft tissue sarcomas (STS) are a heterogeneous group of highly malignant mesenchymal tumors that account for ~1% of all malignancies. Frequent heterogeneity and pleomorphism along with suboptimal diagnostic reproducibility and insufficient prognostic markers make clinical management of these tumors difficult. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Constructing a timetable of autumn senescence in aspen

    Författare :Johanna Keskitalo; Stefan Jansson; Howard Thomas; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Populus tremula; autumn senescence; senescence-associated genes; cellular timetable; transcriptional timetable; cDNA microarrays; EST sequencing; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : During the development and lifecycle of multicellular organisms, cells have to die, and this occurs by a process called programmed cell death or PCD, which can be separated from necrosis or accidental cell death (Pennell and Lamb, 1997). Senescence is the terminal phase in the development of an organism, organ, tissue or cell, where nutrients are remobilized from the senescing parts of the plant into other parts, and the cells of the senescing organ or tissue undergo PCD if the process is not reversed in time. 4. 4. Gene Expression Patterns in a Rat Model of Human Endometrial Adenocarcinoma

    Författare :Sandra Karlsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; rat; complex disease; Endometrial adenocarcinoma; gene expression profiling; cDNA microarrays; candidate genes; Molecular biology; Medical sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Endometrial cancer develops from the endometrium of the uterus and is the most common pelvic malignancy diagnosed in women in the western society. Similar to all cancer diseases, endometrial cancer is a disorder that results from complex patterns of genetic and epigenetic alterations involved in the malignant transformation. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Transcriptome Analyses of the Nematode-trapping Fungus Monacrosporium haptotylum

    Författare :Margareta Tholander; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; Biologi; Microbiology; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Pathogenic fungi; Nematophagous fungi; Nematodes; Biological control; cDNA microarray; Transcriptome analysis; Nematode-trapping fungi; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Nematode-trapping fungi are soil living organisms with the ability to infect and kill nematodes. These fungi have developed specialized infection structures, traps for the capture of nematodes. To be able to identify genes in nematode-trapping fungi that are involved in the infection of nematodes cDNA microarrays were constructed. LÄS MER
