  1. 1. Ammonium Feedback Control in Wastewater Treatment Plants

    Författare :Linda Åmand; Bengt Carlsson; Peter Vanrolleghem; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; aeration control; ammonium feedback control; biological nitrogen removal; full-scale experiments; gain scheduling control; PI control; process control; repetitive control; wastewater treatment; Elektroteknik med inriktning mot reglerteknik; Electrical Engineering with specialization in Automatic Control;

    Sammanfattning : The aeration process is often the single largest consumer of electricity in a wastewater treatment plant. Aeration in biological reactors provides microorganisms with oxygen which is required to convert ammonium to nitrate. Ammonium is toxic for aqueous ecosystems and contributes to eutrophication. 2. 2. Interaction Analysis in Multivariable Control Systems : Applications to Bioreactors for Nitrogen Removal

    Författare :Björn Halvarsson; Bengt Carlsson; Elling Jacobsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; activated sludge process; biological nitrogen removal; bioreactor models; control structure design; cost-efficient operation; decentralized control; interaction measures; minimum variance control; multivariable control; wastewater treatment; Automatic control; Reglerteknik; Elektroteknik med inriktning mot reglerteknik; Electrical Engineering with specialization in Automatic Control;

    Sammanfattning : Many control systems of practical importance are multivariable. In such systems, each manipulated variable (input signal) may affect several controlled variables (output signals) causing interaction between the input/output loops. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Population Genetic Structure of Black Grouse (Tetrao tetrix) : From a Large to a Fine Scale Perspective

    Författare :Carolina Corrales Duque; Jacob Höglund; Staffan Bensch; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; black grouse; control region; demographic expansion; kin selection; lek; microsatellites; non-invasive sampling; postglacial colonisation; philopatry; phylogeography; sex-biased dispersal; spatial genetics; subspecies; suture zone; refugia; Biology; Biologi; Systematics and phylogenetics; Systematik och fylogeni; Biologi med inriktning mot populationsbiologi; Biology with specialization in Population Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Black grouse (Tetrao tetrix) is a bird species with a lek mating system found in the Palearctic boreal taiga. It is assumed that it has a continuous distribution along Scandinavia and Siberia, whereas in Central Europe it has declined during the last decades. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Microbiological hygiene and biological control of leafy green vegetables

    Författare :Elisabeth Uhlig; Avdelningen för livsmedel och läkemedel; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Food hygiene; Biological control; Native microbiota; Escherichia coli; Leafy green vegetables;

    Sammanfattning : Fruit and vegetables are vital components of a healthy diet, and international strategies to encourage their consumption are in place (FAO/WHO, 2005). Ready-to-eat (RTE) leafy green vegetable products have exploded in popularity, and are a convenient and attractive way to add greens to the plate. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Fluorescence as a biological feedback signal for energy optimising spectra for greenhouse LED-illumination

    Författare :Linnéa Ahlman; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fluorescence; Photosynthesis; Automatic control; Greenhouse illumination; LED lighting; Spectrum optimisation;

    Sammanfattning : The introduction of LED-lighting for greenhouses has enabled new ways of controlling the light, both spectrum and intensity, to save energy and increase crop production. We have investigated a new method of automatically tuning the spectrum based on biological feedback. LÄS MER
