21. Structural evolution of two ore-bearing Palaeoproterozoic metasupracrustal belts in the Kiruna area, Northwestern Fennoscandian Shield
Sammanfattning : In this project, two key study areas in the northwestern Fennoscandian Shield are under investigation. The “Western supracrustal belt” and “Central Kiruna area” are both located along lithotectonically comparable Rhyacian-Orosirian metasupracrustal belts and both areas are characterized by iron oxide-apatite (IOA) and iron oxide-copper-gold (IOCG)-style mineralizations and related hydrothermal alterations. 22. The Effect of Mechanical Characteristics of Basal Decollement and Basement Structures on Deformation of the Zagros Basin
Sammanfattning : Two fundamental structural elements, basement architecture and basal decollement, play a significant role in the evolution of a tectonically active region. Using different approaches (field data, literature review and analogue models) this thesis demonstrates that these two elements affected the deformation style in the Zagros fold-thrust belt during Mesozoic extensional and Cenozoic contractional episodes. 23. Fluid migration and brittle tectonothermal evolution in the central Fennoscandian Shield - recorded by fracture minerals and wall rock alteration
Sammanfattning : The Forsmark area in central Sweden has been investigated as a potential geological host for a final repository of spent nuclear fuel by the Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Company (SKB). High quality drill core material from the upper 1 km of the central Fennoscandian Shield has been obtained during the site investigations and has provided a unique opportunity for detailed fracture mineralogical investigations. 24. Provenance of late Paleozoic and Mesozoic clastic sediments of Taimyr and their significance for understanding Arctic tectonics
Sammanfattning : The Taimyr Peninsula is a key element in the circum-Arctic region and represents the northern margin of the Siberian Craton. The Taimyr Peninsula preserves late Paleozoic through Mesozoic clasitic sedimentary successions in its Mesozoic fold belt, providing an ideal location to investigate the Mesozoic tectonic evolution associated with the opening of Amerasia Basin within a circum-Arctic framework. 25. Modelling water resources despite data limitations in Tanzania’s Kilombero Valley
Sammanfattning : Water is a vital resource for survival on the Earth. Sustainable management of water resources is therefore required for the wellbeing of present and future generations. A cornerstone of water resources management is scientific guidance supported by relevant data (in terms of quantity and quality). LÄS MER
