  1. 26. Aspects of physical activity in Rheumatoid Arthritis : associations with inflammation and cardiovascular risk factors

    Författare :Kristina Hörnberg; Solveig Wållberg Jonsson; Björn Sundström; Christina Helging Opava; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; physiotherapy; rheumatoid arthritis; cardiovascular disease; aerobic capacity; physical activity; exercise; primary prevention;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is associated with an increased risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD), partially attributable to systemic inflammation and traditional risk factors for CVD. Since physical activity (PA) is strongly related to CVD in the general population, the aim of this thesis was to describe aspects of PA in patients with RA, and further to analyse associations with disease activity, traditional risk factors for CVD and subclinical atherosclerosis. 2. 27. Treatment of arthritis with tumour necrosis factor antagonists. Clinical, immunological and biochemical aspects

    Författare :Meliha C Kapetanovic; Reumatologi och molekylär skelettbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Skelett; muskelsystem; reumatologi; Skeleton; muscle system; rheumatology locomotion; ANA; infusion reaction; influenza vaccination; pneumococcal vaccination; COMP; TNF antagonists; spondylarthropathies; arthritis; rheumatoid arthritis;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract The treatment of arthritis has undergone a dramatic change since biological agents targeting specific mediators of the disease process have been introduced. Tumour necrosis factor (TNF) antagonists have been shown to reduce signs and symptoms of disease and to retard the development of tissue damage in the majority of patients. LÄS MER

  3. 28. Muscle function in Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis : A two-year follow-up

    Författare :Hans Lindehammar; Lars Larsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; arthritis; juvenile rheumatoid; physiopathology; muscle; skeletal; pathology; physiopathology; Muscular atrophy; etiology; physiopathology; arthritis; juvenile rheumatoid; complications; Medicine; Medicin;

    Sammanfattning : This is a study of muscle function in Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA). Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a disease that primarily affects the synovial membrane of joints. Muscle weakness, atrophy and pain occur in adult RA. This may be a consequence of joint pain, stiffness and immobility. LÄS MER

  4. 29. Aspects of Disability in Rheumatoid Arthritis : a five-year follow-up in the Swedish TIRA project

    Författare :Mathilda Björk; Björn Gerdle; Ingrid Thyberg; Thomas Skogh; Klas Rikner; Karin Harms-Ringdahl; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rheumatoid arthritis RA ; disability; hand function; pain intensity; ADL; sick leave; prediction; Rheumatology; Reumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a progressive disease, often leading to disability. Because the disease course develops rapidly during the first years after diagnosis, more knowledge is needed about the early disease course to minimize later disability. LÄS MER

  5. 30. Genetic Studies of Rheumatoid Arthritis using Animal Models

    Författare :Niklas Nordquist; William Dietrich; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; Complex disease; autoimmune; rheumatoid arthritis; genetic; mapping; QTL; locus; linkage; animal model; rat; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Medical Genetics; medicinsk genetik;

    Sammanfattning : Predisposition to autoimmune diseases such as, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, and multiple sclerosis, is caused by the effect of multiple genes and a strong influence from the environment. In this study, I have investigated genetic factors that confer susceptibility to rheumatoid arthritis in a rat model. LÄS MER
