  1. 1. Building muscle : a translation of training adaptation

    Författare :Niklas Boman; Michael Svensson; Jonas Burén; Henrik Antti; Eva Jansson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Training; adaptation; muscle; human; hypertrophy; testosterone; fysiologi; Physiology;

    Sammanfattning : Training is preparation for what is expected to come through utilization of the plastic and resistive features of nature, known as adaptation. As such, training in humans may have a number of desired goals. These are typically related to sports performance or education. Whatever the goal, a plan needs to be made for reaching it. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Exercise-induced muscle soreness : a qualitative and quantitative study of human muscle morphology and function

    Författare :Jan Fridén; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Human; exercise; exertion; eccentric contractions; muscles; muscle strength; muscle soreness; fibre types; myofibrils; muscle proteins; histocy to chemistry; ultrastructure; stereology;

    Sammanfattning : Exercise-induced muscle soreness is characterized by stiffness, tenderness and pain during active movements and weakness of the affected musculature the days after unusually or particularly heavy work. The most pronounced subjective symptoms do not arise immediately but rather between a couple of hours to some days after the exercise (a delayed-onset of muscle soreness), the intensity of pain is greatest about 48 hours after the work. 4. 4. Muscle Thixotropy : Implications for Human Motor Control

    Författare :Hans Axelson; Karl-Erik Hagbarth; Mikael Elam; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurosciences; Motor control; Skeletal muscle; Thixotropy; History-dependent; EMG; Voluntary contractions; Neurovetenskap; Neurology; Neurologi;

    Sammanfattning : Human skeletal muscles possess thixotropic, i.e. history-dependent mechanical properties. This means that the degree of passive muscle stiffness and resting tension is dependent on the immediately preceding history of contractions and length changes. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Human muscle spindles : complex morphology and structural organisation

    Författare :Jing-Xia Liu; William K. Ovalle; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :human; muscle spindle; intrafusal fiber; aging; biceps brachii; deep muscles of the neck; MyHC; mATPase; SERCA; anatomi; Human Anatomy; muscle spindIe;

    Sammanfattning : Muscle spindles are skeletal muscle mechanoreceptors that mediate the stretch reflex and provide axial and limb position information to the central nervous system. They have been proposed to play a major role in the pathophysiology of muscle pain. LÄS MER
