6. The indoor environment in schools : Respiratory effects and air quality
Sammanfattning : The main objective of this work was to investigate relationships between the schoolenvironment and asthma and asthmatic symptoms in schoolchildren. Data on symptoms werecollected through postal questionnaires answered by 1,732 pupils in 39 randomly selectedschools, and were related to data on exposures obtained through hygienic measurements in theschools. 7. Energy transition in transportation : Applying TIMES-based energy system optimisation models to sub-national levels
Sammanfattning : Transportation is embedded in the fabric of society and a key enabler of socio-economic development, but it is also a major source of carbon dioxide (CO2) and local air pollution (AP). Cities collectively account for around three quarters of total energy-related CO2 emissions, and the negative health impacts from local APs are most felt in dense urban environments. LÄS MER
8. Migration in anadromous brown trout
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the anadromous migration of brown trout (Salmo trutta) with the overall aim to improve stock management within the region. Several field studies were conducted in different streams and coastal areas on the west coast of Sweden specifically aimed to evaluate environmental triggers for migration (Paper I), migration pathways and strategies (Paper III and IV) as well as the genetic differentiation of anadromous populations of brown trout (Paper V). 9. Probabilistic Modelling of Air Infiltration and Heat Loss in Low-Rise Buildings
Sammanfattning : A probabilistic model (PROMO) of air exchange and heat loss in a low-rise building with a lightweight construction is proposed. The probability distributions of the air change rate and of the heat loss are the main outputs of the model. LÄS MER
10. Modelling as a Tool to Evaluate Continuously Measured Concentration Value of Gaseous Indoor Air Pollutants
Sammanfattning : Results from studies of air quality in buildings are often difficult to interpret and evaluate and, in order to avoid erroneous conclusions, special evaluating tools may be needed. Modelling in various forms can be used as a method of evaluating measured values from such investigations. LÄS MER
