  1. 31. Structure determination and thermodynamic stabilization of an engineered protein-protein complex

    Författare :Elisabet Wahlberg; Per-Åke Nygren; Bengt-Harald Jonsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; affibody; protein structure; coupled folding; NMR spectroscopy; protein stability; protein-protein interactions; binding thermodynamics; isothermal titration calorimetry; protein engineering; Structural biochemistry; Strukturbiokemi;

    Sammanfattning : The interaction between two 6 kDa proteins has been investigated. The studied complex of micromolar affinity (Kd) consists of the Z domain derived from staphylococcal protein A and the related protein ZSPA-1, belonging to a group of binding proteins denoted affibody molecules generated via combinatorial engineering of the Z domain. 2. 32. Nanomagnetic and Micromagnetic Properties of Rocks Minerals and Sulphide Oxidation Products

    Författare :Erik Eneroth; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; physical geography; Geology; multi-domain; single-domain; ilmenite; magnetite; maghemite; hematite; pyrite; marcasite; fysisk geografi; Geologi;

    Sammanfattning : Magnetic and related properties of rocks and products from oxidation of sulphide minerals have been investigated with magnetisation measurements (rocks and oxidation products), magnetic force microscopy (rocks), scanning electron microscopy (rocks and oxidation products), transmission electron microscopy (oxidation products), Mössbauer spectroscopy (oxidation products) and powder X-ray diffraction (oxidation products). The investigations have shown the following: During thermal oxidation of pyrite (cubic FeS2) and marcasite (orthorombic FeS2) in air, nano-crystals of a-Fe2O3 and g-Fe2O3 were formed. LÄS MER

  3. 33. Case Studies in Ion Beam Assisted Nanostructure Engineering

    Författare :Rajdeep Kaur; Petter Ström; Daniel Primetzhofer; Tuan Tran; Naureen Ghafoor; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ion irradiation; material modification; nanostructures; calcium fluoride; polyimide; etching; Fysik; Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Beams of energetic ions can be used for material analysis and modification. It provides us with a tool featuring unique control over the area, depth and amount of damage in the material. This property of ion beams can be used to generate desired changes in material properties or form nanostructures with specific characteristics in the material. LÄS MER

  4. 34. Cold-climate landforms on Mars and Earth-analogues in Svalbard

    Författare :Andreas Johnsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mars; Svalbard; Spitsbergen; periglacial; ice; permafrost; Earth-analogues; terrestrial analogues; geomorphology; landforms; solifluction; debris flow; gully; craters; cold-climate;

    Sammanfattning : Periglacial landforms on Earth reflect cold-climate conditions and are intimately related to processes due to the presence of ground ice and perennially frozen ground, permafrost. The overall objective of this thesis is to investigate the potential of Svalbard as an analogue to Mars cold-climate landforms, and explore past and present processes and surface conditions on Mars by inference from morphological counterparts in Svalbard. 5. 35. Sedimentology and Geomorphology of Glacial Landforms in Southern Sweden : Studying the Landscape of a Melting Ice Sheet

    Författare :Gustaf Peterson Becher; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Glacial geology; Geomorphology; Sedimentology; Glaciology; Tunnel-valley; Glaciofluvial meltwater corridor; Murtoo; Småland;

    Sammanfattning : Ice sheets are disintegrating due to global warming. One factor controlling ice-sheet behavior is the processes active beneath the ice sheet. In particular, processes connected to glacial meltwater drainage are essential to understand ice-sheets behavior in a warming climate. LÄS MER
