11. Inverse Mathematical Models for Brain Tumour Growth
Sammanfattning : We study the following well-established model of reaction-diffusion type for brain tumour growth:This equation describes the change over time of the normalised tumour cell density u as a consequence of two biological phenomena: proliferation and diffusion. We discuss a mathematical method for the inverse problem of locating the brain tumour source (origin) based on the reaction-diffusion model. 12. Ab initio study of transition metal carbides and actinide compounds
Sammanfattning : Two classes of materials are investigated using ab intio methods based on density functional theory. The structural properties, electronic structure and thermodynamic properties of binary and ternary transition metal carbides are discussed in details. In addition, two actinide compounds will be presented. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : Bartonella spp. are emerging bacterial pathogens which continue to achieve an ever-increasing level of clinical importance and awareness. As Bartonella infections are common zoonoses in the U.S. LÄS MER
14. Health and quality of care from older peoples' and formal caregivers' perspective
Sammanfattning : Aim: The overall aim of this thesis was to gain a deeper understanding of older people's view of health and care while dependent on community care. Furthermore to describe and compare formal caregivers' perceptions of quality of care, working conditions, competence, general health, and factors associated with quality of care from the caregivers' perspective. 15. Foreign direct investment, host country characteristics and spillovers
Sammanfattning : It has been argued that technology and productivity spillovers from foreign direct investment are the most important channels for the diffusion of modern technology to locally-owned firms in the MNCs’ host countries. Yet, existing empirical studies differ in their appraisals of the size and significance of spillovers. LÄS MER
