  1. 6. Hormonal regulation of liver and tumor growth

    Författare :Ville Wallenius; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Liver; cytokine; interleukin-6; tumor necrosis factor; primary liver growth promoter; cyproterone acetate; nafenopin; hepatocyte growth factor; HGF receptor; tumor; sarcoma; N-terminal; truncated;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of this thesis were to investigate the regulatory functions of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-a (TNF-a) on liver growth, and the importance of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) and the HGF receptor (Met) for growth of mesenchyme-derived tumors. The studies on different types of liver growth, measured as weight, DNA and protein content, and DNA synthesis, were performed on mice lacking the IL-6 or the TNF receptor-1 gene back-crossed to the C57bl/6 strain. 2. 7. Neuropilin-1 regulation of tumor vascularization and growth

    Författare :Eric Morin; Lena Claesson-Welsh; Hellmut Augustin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Angiogenesis; Neuropilin-1; VEGFR2; tumor biology; pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma; renal cell carcinoma; Medical Cell Biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels from existing ones, is dysregulated during tumor progression as a result of chronic hypoxia and inflammation. Such alterations lead to a lack of vessel hierarchy, and the formation of poorly perfused, leaky and blunt-ended vessels, contributing to disease progression. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Development of a Cancer Vaccine Targeting Tumor Blood Vessels

    Författare :Elisabeth J. M Huijbers; Anna-Karin Olsson; Arjan W. Griffioen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Vaccine; Therapeutic; Cancer; Tumor; Angiogenesis; Immunization; Vascular; Extracellular matrix; Biomedicinsk laboratorievetenskap; Biomedical Laboratory Science; Medical Cell Biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi; Oncology; Onkologi; Medical Science; Medicinsk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : A treatment strategy for cancer is the suppression of tumor growth by directing an immune response to the tumor vessels, which will destroy the tissue.In this thesis we describe the development of a vaccine that targets antigens expressed around angiogenic vasculature in most solid tumors. 4. 9. Therapeutic Cancer Vaccines Targeting Molecules Associated with Tumor Angiogenesis

    Författare :Julia Femel; Anna-Karin Olsson; Grietje (Ingrid) Molema; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; tumor; therapeutic; cancer vaccine; angiogenesis; vasculature; fibronectin; galectin-1; Medical Cell Biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi; Oncology; Onkologi; Biomedicinsk laboratorievetenskap; Biomedical Laboratory Science; Medical Science; Medicinsk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Induction of an endogenous antibody response by therapeutic vaccination could provide an alternative to cost-intensive monoclonal antibody-based treatments for cancer. Since the target of a cancer vaccine will most likely be a self-antigen, self-tolerance of the immune system must be circumvented. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Lutetium-177-octreotate treatment of small intestine neuroendocrine tumors - Radiation biology as basis for optimization

    Författare :Johan Spetz; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Peptide receptor radionuclide therapy; PRRT; somatostatin receptors; SSTR; midgut carcinoid; radiogenomics;

    Sammanfattning : Patients with neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) often have metastatic spread at the time of diagnosis. NETs frequently express somatostatin receptors (SSTR) that can be targeted by radiolabeled somatostatin analogs (e.g. 177Lu-octreotate). LÄS MER
