  1. 1. Hepatocyte growth factor : Studies on local and systemic release and effects during infectious disease; in vivo and in vitro

    Författare :Fariba Nayeri; Minoca Niste'r; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : The interaction of mesenchymal and epithelial cells that occurs after organ injuries results in enhanced production of cytokines, such as hepatocyte growth factor (HGF). HGF is a glycoprotein with unique properties that contribute to wound healing after injuries. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Head and Neck Cancer : Factors Affecting Tumour Growth

    Författare :Kaarina Sundelin; Elisabeth Paulette-Hultcrantz; Karin Öllinger; Karin Roberg; Hans Gustafsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Head and neck cancer; Chemoradiotherapy; Tumour; Malignant salivary; Metallothionein; Neo-angiogenesis; Metastases; Cytokine tumour necrosis factor-alpha; hepatocyte growth factor; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : Head and neck cancer is the fifth most common cancer worldwide with an estimated annual global incidence of over 500 000 cases. These malignant tumours develop in the mucosal linings of the upper respiratory tract or in the salivary glands. The most common sites are in the oral cavity and larynx. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The role of peridontitis and hepatocyte growth factor in systemic inflammation

    Författare :Johanna Lönn; Torbjörn Bengtsson; Fariba Nayeri; Anders Gustafsson; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Hepatocyte growth factor; Porphyromonas gingivalis; periodontitis; systemic inflammation; coronary artery disease; chronic renal failure; lipoxin; Biomedicin; Biomedicine;

    Sammanfattning : An essential goal in addressing inflammation is the return of tissue to homeostasis. Persistent infections often cause prolonged response and accumulation of immune cells, inducing imbalance in pro- and anti-inflammatory mediators, tissue destruction, and chronic inflammation. 4. 4. Hormonal regulation of liver and tumor growth

    Författare :Ville Wallenius; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Liver; cytokine; interleukin-6; tumor necrosis factor; primary liver growth promoter; cyproterone acetate; nafenopin; hepatocyte growth factor; HGF receptor; tumor; sarcoma; N-terminal; truncated;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of this thesis were to investigate the regulatory functions of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-a (TNF-a) on liver growth, and the importance of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) and the HGF receptor (Met) for growth of mesenchyme-derived tumors. The studies on different types of liver growth, measured as weight, DNA and protein content, and DNA synthesis, were performed on mice lacking the IL-6 or the TNF receptor-1 gene back-crossed to the C57bl/6 strain. 5. 5. Growth hormone regulation of LFABP and PPARa. Genes involved in hepatic lipid metabolism

    Författare :Linda Carlsson; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :Growth hormone; fatty acids; rat; hepatocyte; LFABP; C EBPa; PPARa;

    Sammanfattning : Growth hormone (GH) is known to have several important effects in the control of metabolism. The aim of these studies was to investigate how GH regulates genes involved in fatty acid transport and metabolism in the liver and the interaction between GH and fatty acids in this regulation.
