6. Genetic Sequence Analysis by Microarray Technology
Sammanfattning : Developments within the field of genetic analysis have during the last decade become enormous. Advances in DNA sequencing technology have increased throughput from a thousand bases to over a billion bases in a day and decreased the cost thousandfold per base. LÄS MER
7. On the Tissue-type Plasminogen Activator (t-PA) -7,351C>T Enhancer Polymorphism. Importance for endothelial t-PA gene expression and arterial thrombotic disease
Sammanfattning : Local endothelial release of tissue-type plasminogen activator (t-PA) is an important thromboprotective mechanism. Earlier work by our group has identified a common single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) at the t-PA locus (-7,351C>T), located within a GC-box in the retinoic acid (RA) and steroid hormone responsive t-PA enhancer. 8. Search for Type 2 Diabetes Susceptibility Genes Using Multiple Approaches
Sammanfattning : Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a multifactorial disorder characterized by chronic hyperglycemia resulting from pancreatic dysfunction and insulin resistance. It is a common disorder with a complex pattern of inheritance, likely to reflect the influence of multiple genetic and environmental factors on the diabetes risk. LÄS MER
9. Functional analysis of the -1087 single nucleotide polymorphism in the IL-10 promoter region
Sammanfattning : Interleukin (IL) 10 is recognized as a pro-inflammatory cytokine that promotes B cell proliferation. The objectives of the present series of studies were to analyze (i) differences in transcription factor binding to the -1087 IL-10 gene polymorphism in B cells, (ii) the influence of the A to G nucleotide transition on IL-10 and Sp1 gene expression in B cells, (iii) differences in Sp1 expression in periodontitis lesions from GG and AA genotype subjects and (iv) epigenetic modifications around the -1087 site and their influence on IL-10 gene expression. 10. Osteoprotegerin in Bone Metabolism
Sammanfattning : Bone turnover, remodeling, is a constant process replacing old bone with new. This complex cellular event involves resorption by osteoclasts and formation of new bone by osteoblasts. The balance between osteoblastic and osteoclastic activity is under regulation by several endocrine and paracrine factors. LÄS MER
