  1. 1. α-Cell signalling in glucose-regulated glucagon secretion

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Qian Yu; Uppsala universitet.; [2018]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Islets; glucagon; insulin; somatostatin; ATP; cAMP; Ca2 ; GHB; oscillations; α-cell; β-cell; δ-cell; Medical Cell Biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Glucagon is a blood glucose-elevating hormone released from α-cells in the islets of Langerhans during hypoglycaemia. Glucagon is critical for glucose homeostasis and inappropriate regulation of its secretion underlies both impaired counter-regulation of hypoglycaemia and chronic hyperglycaemia in diabetes patients. 2. 2. Maf transcription factors in beta cell function

    Detta är en avhandling från Stem Cell Center, Lund University

    Författare :Elvira Ganic; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2015]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Beta cell; MafA; type 2 diabetes; insulin secretion; transcription; monoamine oxidase; MaoA; MaoB; nicotinic receptor subunits; nAChRs;

    Sammanfattning : Popular Abstract in English According to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), 415 million people suffer from diabetes worldwide. Diabetes occurs when the pancreatic beta cells are no longer able to produce or properly use insulin. Insulin regulates blood glucose levels by enabling glucose uptake into cells, providing the body with energy. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Microwell devices for single-cell analyses

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : KTH

    Författare :Sara Lindström; KTH.; [2009]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; microwell; miniaturization; microfluidics; cell culture; single-cell; clone; imaging; stem cell; cancer; low volume; high-throughput; NATURAL SCIENCES Biology Cell and molecular biology Molecular biology; NATURVETENSKAP Biologi Cell- och molekylärbiologi Molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Powerful tools for detailed cellular studies are emerging, increasing the knowledge ofthe ultimate target of all drugs: the living cell. Today, cells are commonly analyzed inensembles, i.e. thousands of cells per sample, yielding results on the average responseof the cells. LÄS MER

  4. 4. New Approaches for Chemical Analysis of Single Cells and Vesicles

    Detta är en avhandling från ; Chalmers tekniska högskola; Gothenburg

    Författare :Johan Dunevall; [2018]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Electrochemistry; Analytical chemistry; Chemistry; Exocytosis; Catecholamines;

    Sammanfattning : Exocytosis is the major cell-to-cell communication process in the nervous system, involving the conversion of an electrical signal (e.g. action potential) to a chemical one. Signaling molecules like neurotransmitters, hormones and/or peptides are stored in vesicles inside the cell. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Single Molecule Detection Microfluidic Automation and Digital Quantification

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Malte Kühnemund; Uppsala universitet.; [2016]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; single molecule; digital; rolling circle amplification; magnetic particle; padlock probe; microfluidics; resistive pulse sensing; lab on chip; mobile phone microscopy; enrichment; sequencing;

    Sammanfattning : Much of recent progress in medical research and diagnostics has been enabled through the advances in molecular analysis technologies, which now permit the detection and analysis of single molecules with high sensitivity and specificity. Assay sensitivity is fundamentally limited by the efficiency of the detection method used for read-out. LÄS MER
