6. New targeted therapies for malignant neural tumors : From systematic discovery to zebrafish models
Sammanfattning : Cancers in the neural system presents a major health challenge. The most aggressive brain tumor in adults, glioblastoma, has a median survival of 15 months and few therapeutic options. High-risk neuroblastoma, a childhood tumor originating in the sympathetic nervous system, has a 5-year survival under 50%, despite extensive therapy. LÄS MER
7. On string integrability : A journey through the two-dimensional hidden symmetries in the AdS/CFT dualities
Sammanfattning : One of the main topics in the modern String Theory are the conjectured string/gauge (AdS/CFT) dualities. Proving such conjectures is extremely difficult since the gauge and string theory perturbative regimes do not overlap. In this perspective, the discovery of infinitely many conserved charges, i.e. LÄS MER
8. Filtering and modelling for automotive safety systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis makes five important contributions to the development of an automotive safety system: filtering algorithms, three modelling frameworks concerning the usage of radar detections in tracking, vehicle motion, and decision-making for intervention decisions, and finally the implementation architecture. In the filtering context, we have developed a new sigma-point method for estimating the moments of a transformed Gaussian random variable. 9. Digitally Enhanced Continuous-Time Sigma-Delta Analogue-to-Digital Converters
Sammanfattning : The continuous downscaling of CMOS technology presents advantagesand difficulties for IC design. While it allows faster, denser and more energy efficient digital circuits, it also imposes several challenges which limit the performance of analogue circuits. LÄS MER
10. Factors Shaping Process and Representation in Multiple-Cue Judgment
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the cognitive processes and representations underlying human judgment in a multiple-cue judgment task. Several recent models as-sume that people have several qualitatively distinct and competing levels of knowledge representations (Ashby, Alfonso-Reese, Turken, & Waldron, 1998; Erickson & Kruschke, 1998; Nosofsky, Palmeri, & McKinley, 1994; Sloman, 1996).
