21. Approaches to differential gene expression analysis in atherosclerosis
Sammanfattning : Todays rapid development of powerful tools for geneexpression analysis provides unprecedented resources forelucidating complex molecular events. The objective of this workhas been to apply, combine andevaluate tools for analysis of differential gene expressionusing atherosclerosis as a model system. 22. Towards comprehensive cellular atlases : High-throughput cell mapping by in situ sequencing
Sammanfattning : With recent technological advancements in single-cell biology, many aspects of individual cells are characterized with unprecedented resolution and details. Cell types in human and model organisms are redefined, and multiple organ-wide atlases are proposed to integrate different types of data to provide a comprehensive view of biological systems at cellular resolution. 23. Molecular Analysis of Breast Cancer Transcriptomes, Genomes, and Circulating Tumor DNA
Sammanfattning : Breast cancer is a very heterogeneous disease in terms of clinical characteristics, genetic aberrations and prognosis. In Paper I, we focused on the CD44 molecule that often is aberrantly expressed in breast cancer and is widely used as a marker for cancer stem cells. LÄS MER
24. Analysis of large-scale metagenomic data
Sammanfattning : The topic of this thesis is the analysis of large data sets of DNA sequence data produced from modern high-throughput DNA sequencing machines. Using such machines to sequence the genetic content of a microbial community produces a metagenome. This thesis comprises three research papers, all connected to the study of large metagenomic data sets. LÄS MER
25. Complex disease genetics : Utilising targeted sequencing and homogeneous ancestry
Sammanfattning : The complex disease investigations presented in this thesis aimed to provide new information regarding underlying genetics by using targeted sequencing and ethnically homogeneous cohorts. This work moved past current methodologies and addressed data stratification issues, that might have been hindering new findings. LÄS MER
