16. Design and synthesis of steroid mimetic libraries using solid phase techniques
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the design and synthesis of biologically active ligands for nuclear hormone receptors using combinatorial techniques. In the first part, a 5,6,6a,7,8,9,10,10a-octahydrobenzo[f]quinolin-3(4H)-one tricyclic core structure was designed mimicking the ABC-rings of a steroid. LÄS MER
17. Cellular immunity and inflammation in atherosclerosis
Sammanfattning : Atherosclerosis, the major cause of death and disability in western countries, is nowadays recognized as an inflammatory disease. Low density lipoprotein (LDL), the major carrier of cholesterol in plasma, is trapped in the subendothelial space, where compounds inside of LDL are chemically modified through lipid peroxidation. 18. Cell-penetrating peptides : an uptake mechanism & a new endosomolytic peptide
Sammanfattning : Peptide-based drugs have slowly begun migrating from laboratories into pharmacies and now there are several on the market. However, currently only one gene based therapy that is relies on a viral delivery vector has been approved. LÄS MER
19. Peptide-based delivery to glioblastoma cells studied by the blood-brain barrier model
Sammanfattning : Crossing the blood-brain barrier (BBB) is a great challenge for delivery of highly charged macromolecules such as nucleic acids and proteins to the brain. Cell-penetrating peptides (CPPs) are promising vectors to deliver various cargoes ranging from small molecules to large molecules such as antibodies, proteins, and nucleic acids. LÄS MER
20. Development of probes for molecular imaging : evaluation in models of inflammation and atherosclerosis
Sammanfattning : The imaging field is rapidly evolving and in the last two decades there have been tremendous developments in the field of multimodal imaging. Multimodal molecular imaging approaches that utilize ultrasound/magnetic resonance imaging (US/MRI), single-photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (SPECT/CT), or positron emission tomography/MRI (PET/MRI) may provide additional detailed information at the cellular and molecular level to help identify patients with vulnerable plaques that are at risk of rupture.
