6. Platelet Inhibition and Bleeding Complications in Cardiac Surgery Patients - Clinical and experimental studies
Sammanfattning : BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE Dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) with acetylsalicylic acid and a P2Y12 inhibitor (clopidogrel, ticagrelor, or prasugrel) reduces thrombotic events in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS), but it is also associated with an increased risk of bleeding complications. The aim of this project was to investigate the prevalence and effects of platelet inhibition in the context of cardiac surgery, the bleeding problems that may occur, and treatment of bleeding complications. 7. Thrombin/ADP-induced platelet activation and drug intervention
Sammanfattning : Blood platelets are key players in haemostasis, the system that maintains an intact circulation. Circulating platelets are constantly on guard for vessel wall injury and will momentarily adhere to exposed subendothelial proteins, mainly collagens, at site of the injury. LÄS MER
8. Platelet inhibition and secondary prevention in cardiac surgery patients
Sammanfattning : ABSTRACT Background and objective Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is the most common cardiac surgery procedure. Dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) reduces the risk for ischaemic events in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) but increases the bleeding risk, both for spontaneous bleedings and procedure-related bleedings for the subset of ACS patients undergoing urgent CABG. 9. Prognostic impact of coronary microvascular funtion in patients with ischemic heart disease
Sammanfattning : Background: Ischemic heart disease is the leading cause of death globally. Despite recent advances in interventional and medical therapies, survivors of myocardial infarction are at high risk of recurrent cardiovascular events. LÄS MER
10. The Role of Chlamydia pneumoniae-induced Platelet Activation in Cardiovascular Disease : In vitro and In vivo studies
Sammanfattning : The common risk factors for atherosclerosis, such as obesity, high cholesterol levels, sedentary lifestyle, diabetes and high alcohol intake, only explain approximately 50% of cardiovascular disease events. It is thereby important to identify new mechanisms that can stimulate the process of atherosclerosis. LÄS MER
