    Sammanfattning : Lignocellulose is an inexpensive and abundant renewable resource that can be used to produce advanced biofuels, green chemicals, and other bio-based products. Pretreatment and efficient enzymatic saccharification are essential features of bioconversion of lignocellulosic biomass. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Pretreatment and enzymatic saccharification of lignocellulose : formation and effects of pseudolignin

    Författare :Monica Normark; Leif Jönsson; Sandra Winestrand; Torbjörn Lestander; Wilfred Vermerris; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Pretreatment; enzymatic saccharification; ionic liquid; torrefaction; pseudolignin; analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Production of advanced biofuels, green chemicals, and bio-based materials from renewable lignocellulosic biomass would contribute to decreased dependence on fossil resources and to sustainable development. The overall aim of the investigations was to explore how preprocessing and pretreatment technologies affected the chemical composition of cellulosic materials and their susceptibility to enzymatic saccharification, which is one of the major routes for biorefining of lignocellulose. 3. 3. Biogas Production from Lignocelluloses : Pretreatment, Substrate Characterization, Co-digestion and Economic Evaluation

    Författare :Anna Teghammar; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; biogas; lignocellulose; pretreatment; anaerobic digestion; co-digestion; substrate characterization; economic evaluation; Biotechnology; economic evaluation.;

    Sammanfattning : Biogas production from organic materials can be used as a renewable vehicle fuel, provide heat and generate electricity and can thereby reduce the greenhouse gas emissions. This thesis focuses on the biogas production based on lignocelluloses. There is an abundant availability of lignocelluloses, constituting 50% of the total biomass worldwide. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : In many parts of the world, there are well-established systems for material recycling of metal, glass, and paper. However, no large-scale chemical recycling of textiles currently exists. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Optimization of Pretreatment of Kraft Pulp with Nitrogen Oxides

    Författare :Urban Öjteg; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :Kappa number; lignins; Nitric acid; Magnesium; spent liquors; viscosity; softwood; oxygen bleaching; Nitrogen dioxide; Manganese; Oxygen; Nitrogen oxides; pretreatment; Kraft pulp;

    Sammanfattning : Modified kraft pulp subjected to oxygen bleaching following pretreatment with 2% nitrogen dioxide for 140 min with the addition of oxygen resulted in low selectivity after subsequent oxygen bleaching. In contrast, pretreatment in the absence of oxygen removed more than 80% of the lignin after oxygen bleaching and still maintained high selectivity (kappa number less than 5 at viscosity 950 dm3/kg).
