1. Organic Reactions i Organised Media
Sammanfattning : A common problem in synthetic organic chemistry is reactant incompatibility between lipophilic organic compounds and inorganic salts. The thesis reports an investigation of some organic reactions, involving incompatible substrate and nucleophile, performed in liquid crystalline phases and also in slurries of mesoporous materials with different symmetry. 2. Catalytic Processes Mediated by Metal−Organic Frameworks : Reactivity and Mechanistic Studies
Sammanfattning : The present thesis describes the development of heterogeneous catalytic methodologies using metal−organic frameworks (MOFs) as porous matrices for supporting transition metal catalysts. A wide spectrum of chemical reactions is covered. LÄS MER
3. Electronic Structure and Transport Properties of Carbon Based Materials
Sammanfattning : In the past decade the interest in molecular electronic devices has escalated. The synthesis of molecular crystals has improved, providing single crystals or thin films with mobility comparable with or even higher than amorphous silicon. Their mechanical flexibility admits new types of applications and usage of electronic devices. LÄS MER
4. Liquid Crystalline SIloxane Dimers - Advanced Materials with Enhanced Properties
Sammanfattning : The liquid crystal state is a complex state with many kinds of different molecular attractive and repulsive forces that results in various kinds of phases. Since the pioneering works by Vorländer in the early 20th century, liquid crystal research has to a great extent been depending on careful systematic studies of the structure/property relationships in series of similar liquid crystalline materials. 5. Crystallization of Parabens : Thermodynamics, Nucleation and Processing
Sammanfattning : In this work, the solubility of butyl paraben in 7 pure solvents and in 5 different ethanol-water mixtures has been determined from 1 ˚C to 50 ˚C. The solubility of ethyl paraben and propyl paraben in various solvents has been determined at 10 ˚C. LÄS MER
