  1. 1. On the role of Natural Killer cell immunogenetics for the outcome of immunotherapy in acute myeloid leukemia

    Författare :Brwa Ali Hussein; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Natural killer cells; Acute Myeloid Leukemia; immunotherapy; HDC IL-2; NKG2A; NK education; SNPs; NK activating receptors; HLA class I;

    Sammanfattning : Numerous studies have revealed that natural killer cells have fundamental roles as effector cells in myeloid leukemias. Thus, understanding NK cell-related biomarkers that influence clinical outcome are warranted. LÄS MER

  2. 2. NK cell education and adhesion molecules : implications for immunotherapy

    Författare :Arnika Kathleen Wagner; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : NK cells have a key role in immune surveillance. They detect aberrant expression of stressinduced molecules and MHC class I molecules with an array of activating and inhibitory receptors. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Dynamic shaping of human NK cell receptor repertoires : implications for NK cell-based immunotherapy

    Författare :Lisa Liu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Natural killer (NK) cells are innate lymphocytes with a potent intrinsic capacity to kill tumor cells, which makes them attractive candidates for cell-based cancer immunotherapy. Advances during the past decade have revealed that NK cells display a high degree of functional plasticity, suggesting that some subsets may be more effective in targeting cancer cells. LÄS MER

  4. 4. NK Cell Cytotoxicity at the Single Cell Level

    Författare :Ludwig Brandt; Björn Önfelt; Fredrik Bergh Thorén; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biological Physics; Biologisk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Natural killer (NK) cells are innate immune cells with the ability to recognize and eliminate virally infected cells and cancer cells without prior sensitization. There is a functional heterogeneity between individual NK cells, where some NK cells are more efficient at killing cancer cells than others. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Immunotherapy and immunosuppression in myeloid leukemia

    Författare :Alexander Hallner; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Natural killer cells; acute myeloid leukemia; histamine dihydrochloride; immunotherapy; reactive oxygen species; chronic myelomonocytic leukemia; NK cell education; NKG2A; HLA; KIR;

    Sammanfattning : Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML) are potentially life-threatening blood cancers characterized by the expansion of malignant myeloid cells in bone marrow and other organs. This thesis aimed at contributing to the understanding of the role of natural killer (NK) cells in AML and CMML with focus on the potential impact of the immunosuppression exerted by reactive oxygen species (ROS) formed by the myeloid cell NOX2 enzyme.
