  1. 11. Protein tyrosine kinases and the regulation of signalling and adhesion in drosophila melanogaster

    Författare :Caroline Grabbe; Ruth Palmer; Tapio Heino; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Drosophila; Signalling; Adhesion; Protein Tyrosine Kinase; Development; Endocytosis; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : In order to build a multi-cellular organism and to regulate cellular functions, cells need to communicate with each other, as well as tightly regulate their behaviour in response to environmental changes. For these purposes all eukaryotic cells express a large number of membrane spanning receptors that either themselves contain catalytic activity or via cytoplasmic effector enzymes, function to transmit “signals” from the cell exterior to induce appropriate responses within the cell. 2. 12. CD93 in regulation of vascular function and tumour progression

    Författare :Kalyani Vemuri; Anna Dimberg; Pipsa Saharinen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; CD93; Tumour angiogenesis; Vascular permeability; Endothelial junctions; Cancer; Glioblastoma; Metastasis;

    Sammanfattning : To achieve successful vascular targeting in cancer, a better understanding of the molecular mechanisms that lead to tumour vascular abnormalities is required.  The transmembrane protein CD93 is highly expressed in the vasculature of several tumours including glioblastoma and has emerged as a potential anti-angiogenic target. 3. 13. Biogenesis of messenger and ribosomal RNPs in the eukaryotic cell

    Författare :Petra Björk; Juan Valcárcel; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; Physical Biology; fysikalisk biologi;

    Sammanfattning : In eukaryotic cells, gene expression involves multi-step processes in the nucleus and the cytoplasm. The different processes engage specific RNA-protein complexes, RNPs. Upon activation of most, if not all genes, a precursor RNA molecule is synthesized that has to be extensively processed and modified. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Molecular photoswitches toward single-molecule electronics applications

    Författare :Shima Ghasemi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Photoswitches; Molecular electronics; Conductance; Quadricyclane; Norbornadiene; Anchoring groups;

    Sammanfattning : The drive towards miniaturization of electronic devices has sparked a growing interest in finding alternatives to conventional silicon-based technology. Over the years, molecular electronics has emerged as a promising avenue for the fabrication of electronic components with advanced functions. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Mechanisms for and Effects of Airway Epithelial Damage in Asthma

    Författare :Anne-Jacqueline Relova; Eythor Björnsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; asthma; airways; cytokines; epithelium; tight junctions; mast cells; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; medicinsk cellbiologi; Medical Cell Biology;

    Sammanfattning : The airway epithelium plays a crucial role in protecting the underlying connective tissue (CT) from noxious agents. Damage and shedding of the epithelium are observed in the airways of asthma, cystic fibrosis and rhinitis patients. LÄS MER
