  1. 1. Development and Application of Non-linear Mid-infrared Laser Spectroscopy for Combustion Diagnostics

    Författare :Zhiwei Sun; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Degenerate four-wave mixing; Polarization spectroscopy; Mid-infrared; Non-linear laser spectroscopy; Laser diagnostics; Combustion; Flame; HITRAN; Concentration; Temperature; Fysicumarkivet A:2012:Sun;

    Sammanfattning : The work reported in this thesis involved the development and application of two novel infrared non-linear laser techniques, namely mid-infrared polarization spectroscopy (IRPS) and mid-infrared degenerate four-wave mixing (IR-DFWM) to combustion diagnostics. These two techniques meet the needs of species concentration detection in combustion environments, especially for those species lacking accessible electronic (one-photon) transitions in the ultraviolet (UV) or visible spectral region. 2. 2. The Integration of 3D Geodata and BIM Data in 3D City Models and 3D Cadastre

    Författare :Jing Sun; Kent Eriksson; Anders Östman; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; 3D geodata; BIM; city models; 3D cadastre; geometric quality; CityGML; LADM; laser scanning; Geodesy and Geoinformatics; Geodesi och geoinformatik; Geodesi; Geodesy;

    Sammanfattning : The initial geographic information system (GIS) and building information modelling (BIM) are designed and developed independently in order to serve different purposes and use. Within the prolific increase and growing maturity of three-dimensional (3D) technology, both 3D geodata and BIM data can specify semantic data and model 3D buildings that are prominent for the 3D city models and 3D cadastre. 3. 3. Intestinal Ischemia and Reperfusion Injury - Pathophysiology as basis for novel treatment

    Författare :Zhengwu Sun; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; organ dysfunction; epithelium; endothelium; adhesion molecules; cytokines; protease inhibitor; Intestine; barrier; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : Intestinal ischemia and reperfusion (I/R) is not infrequent in the clinical situation and the intestinal barrier plays an important role in gut barrier function, preventing not at least septic complications and potentially the development of the multiple organ dysfunction syndrome. Mechanisms of intestinal I/R induced gut epithelial and endothelial barrier dysfunction and remote organ dysfunction, as well as potential preventive and therapeutic modes of management were evaluated in the rat. 4. 4. Ab initio Investigation of Face-centered cubic High-Entropy Alloys

    Författare :Xun Sun; Levente Vitos; Torbjörn Björkman; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ab initio; high-entropy alloys; twinning; martensitic transformation; elastic properties; phase stability; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : High-entropy alloys (HEAs) represent a special group of solid solutions containing five or more principal elements. The new design strategy has attracted extensive attention from the materials science community. The design and development of HEAs with desired properties have become an important subject in materials science and technology. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Towards Artificial Photosynthesis: Exploration of Efficient First-Row Transition Metal-Based Water Oxidation Catalysts

    Författare :Lizhou Fan; Licheng Sun; Thomas Wågberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Artificial photosynthesis; Water oxidation; Heterogeneous catalyst; Electrochemistry; Electronic structure; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Artificial photosynthesis provides a promising strategy for sustainable energy harvesting, yet its overall efficiency is limited by the water oxidation reaction. The subject of this thesis focuses on the exploration of highly efficient cost-effective heterogeneous catalysts for water oxidation, and the investigation of essential catalyst structure-activity relationships.
