    Författare :Michael Persson; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Process integration; Fermentation; Hydrolysis; Lignocellulosic Biomass; Wheat grain; Bioethanol;

    Sammanfattning : The transition from a reliance on fossil resources to the use of renewables for the production of energy, fuels and chemicals is essential for ensuring the sustainability of continued human development. Plant-based biomass is a renewable resource which can be transformed into all of these products. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Fermentation of lignocellulosic material : a study on bacterial contamination and yeast physiology

    Författare :Emma Johansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; yeast physiology; energy metabolism; Lignocellulosic bioethanol; bacterial contamination;

    Sammanfattning : Progressive depletion of oil and conventional fossil fuels, an increased energy demand and an increased struggle for national energy security has led to the development of alternative biobased fuels, bioethanol being one of them. Bioethanol can be made from many different raw materials, and based upon this are classified as 1st generation and 2nd generation. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Sweden has claimed that it wants to have a fossil-free vehicle fleet in 2030 as a milestone of its ambitious goal for 2050 to be a country with a sustainable and resource-efficient energy supply without any net GHG emissions. Production of bioethanol from plant materials is one potential method of meeting this goal. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Short-term adaptation of S. cerevisiae to lignocellulosic inhibitors: Underlying metabolic and physiological changes

    Författare :Marlous van Dijk; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; lignocellulosic inhibitor tolerance; second generation bioethanol; short-term adaptation; differential gene expression; industrial yeast strains;

    Sammanfattning : The limited tolerance of Saccharomyces cerevisiae (budding yeast) to inhibitors present in lignocellulosic hydrolysates is a major challenge in second-generation bioethanol production. Short-term adaptation of the yeast to lignocellulosic hydrolysates during cell propagation has been shown to improve its tolerance, and thus its performance in lignocellulose fermentation. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Fungi-Based Biorefinery : Valorization of industrial residuals and techno-economic evaluation

    Författare :Gülru Bulkan; Mohammad J Taherzadeh; Mats Galbe; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Techno-economic analysis; Organosolv; bioethanol; filamentous fungi; food; lignin; fruit; bioactive compounds; Resource Recovery; Resursåtervinning;

    Sammanfattning : Sustainable development of society and industry is necessary for a safer future that is being challenged by environmental pollution, climate change, and scarcity of food and nutrition. Materials considered as waste can be converted into value-added products and energy, hence regained to the economy. LÄS MER
