  1. 31. Water quality modeling based on landscape analysis: importance of riparian hydrology

    Författare :Thomas Grabs; Jan Seibert; Kevin Bishop; Hjalmar Laudon; Brian McGlynn; Georgia Destouni; Irena Creed; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Water quality model; terrain analysis; geographical information system GIS; riparian zone; total organic carbon TOC; boreal catchments; Hydrology; Hydrologi; geografi med naturgeografisk inriktning; Physical Geography;

    Sammanfattning : Several studies in high-latitude catchments have demonstrated the importance of near-stream riparian zones as hydrogeochemical hotspots with a substantial influence on stream chemistry. An adequate representation of the spatial variability of riparian-zone processes and characteristics is the key for modeling spatio-temporal variations of stream-water quality. LÄS MER

  2. 32. Ecohydrological water flow analysis of a Swedish landscape in a 100 year perspective

    Författare :Lotta Andersson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AREAS; TVÄRVETENSKAPLIGA FORSKNINGSOMRÅDEN;

    Sammanfattning : The study basically involves analysis in a 100 year perspective of the hydrological response on precipitation from different landscape elements in south-central Sweden, characterized by the interaction of topography, soil type, land management and canopy cover.For this purpose, a dynamic water partitioning model, based on the soil moisture balance, was developed together with a Geographical Information System (GIS)-supported method for the detection of the spatial distribution of soil wetness as an indicator of the probability to act as discharge or recharge areas respectively. 3. 33. Linking landscape variables, hydrology and weathering regime in Taiga and Tundra ecoregions of Northern Sweden

    Författare :Erik Smedberg; Christoph Humborg; Robert Striegl; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Taiga and tundra; high-latitude; carbon fluxes; weathering; hydrological alterations; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : High-latitude watersheds have been regarded as a carbon sink with soil carbon accumulating at low temperature. This sink is now believed to turn into a source, acting as positive feedback to climate warming. LÄS MER

  4. 34. From fields to landscapes : effects of agricultural land use and landscape heterogeneity on farmland birds

    Författare :Matthew Hiron; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Farmland biodiversity has declined because of agricultural intensification. Agri-environment schemes (AESs) seem to have limited effect in stopping and reversing declines. LÄS MER

  5. 35. Folding of the Ribosomal protein S6 : The role of sequence connectivity, overlapping foldons, and parallel pathways

    Författare :Ellinor Haglund; Mikael Oliveberg; Neil Ferguson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; protein folding; protein stability; two-state folding; S6; chevron plot; transition state; parallell pathways; foldon; two-channel landscape; protein engineering; H D-exchange; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : To investigate how protein folding is affected by sequence connectivity five topological variants of the ribosomal protein S6 were constructed through circular permutation.  In these constructs, the chain connectivity (i.e. the order of secondary-structure elements) is changed without changing the native-state topology.
