1. Implementation of a flexible fiber model in a general purpose CFD code
Sammanfattning : This work is related to the process of making pulp mats for use in hygienicproducts. One part of that process is the transportation of flexiblecellulose fibers suspended in flowing air. The fibers should be evenlydistributed on the substrate, and it is thus of high importance to avoidthe formation of fiber flocks during the transportation. LÄS MER
2. Aerothermal Experimental Investigation of LPT-OGVs
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents the design, commissioning, and experimental data of a newly built turbine facility at Chalmers University of Technology for investigating the ow in the engine exit structure (EES). The EES is the structure located downstream of the lowpressure turbine (LPT) in a jet engine. LÄS MER
3. Sensitivity of Aeroelastic Properties of an Oscillating LPT Cascade
Sammanfattning : Modern turbomachinery design is characterized by a tendency towards thinner, lighter and highly loaded blades, which in turn gives rise to increased sensitivity to flow induced vibration such as flutter. Flutter is a self-excited and self-sustained instability phenomenon that may lead to structural failure due to High Cycle Fatigue (HCF) or material overload. LÄS MER
4. Large Eddy Simulation of Turbulent Combustion in PPC and Diesel Engines
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with large eddy simulations (LES) of turbulent combustion processes in direct injection internal combustion (IC) engines. Modeling of direct injection IC engine combustion involves modeling of turbulent spray/gas two-phase flow, modeling of chemical reactions of large hydrocarbon fuels and coupling of chemistry with turbulent flows. 5. Numerical modeling of deforming bubble transport related to cavitating hydraulic turbines
Sammanfattning : Cavitation is a problem in many hydroelectric power plants since it can cause adverse effects on performance and damage to nearby solid surfaces. The concerns of this thesis are the numerical aspects of flow simulations in cavitating hydraulic turbines which contain several difficulties: turbulent and complex flows, steady and moving parts of the geometry, bubble transport and cavitation development.
