  1. 6. Natural killer cells, multiple myeloma, and daratumumab : a love-hate relationship

    Författare :Michael Chrobok; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Multiple myeloma is a treatable, but not yet curable, malignant plasma cell disease. Over the last decades, the overall survival time of multiple myeloma patients has constantly increased thanks to improvements in conventional treatment methods like chemotherapy as well as autologous stem cell transplantation both in combination with novel drugs such as proteasome inhibitors or immunomodulatory drugs. 2. 7. The therapeutic potential of ex vivo expanded natural killer (NK) cells for immunotherapy of cancer

    Författare :Hayrettin Guven; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Natural killer NK cells; Natural killer-like T NKT cells; Gene transfer; Retrovirus; Good manufacturing practice GMP ; Ex vivo; In vivo; SCID-beige.;

    Sammanfattning : Cell and gene therapy of cancers has received much attention in the past decade. A number of applications of cancer treatment have been developed and used. One of the recent applications is immunotherapy of tumours with human natural killer (NK) cells. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Effect of cycline-dependent kinase and matrix metalloproteinase inhibitors on hematopoietic and leukemic cells

    Författare :Hairong Song; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Rapid advances in molecular and cellular biology have improved the understanding of the mechanisms involved in leukemia development. Cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs) and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) have been suggested as potential therapeutic targets and a number of pharmacologic inhibitors of CDKs and MMPs have been developed. 4. 9. Cholesterol turnover in acute myelogenous leukemia with special emphasis on regulation of low density lipoprotein receptor expression in leukemic cells

    Författare :Loukas Tatidis; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Cellular cholesterol requirements are met by receptor mediated uptake of cholesterol in low density lipoprotein (LDL) particles and/or by endogenous synthesis, the rate limiting enzyme in the synthesis pathway being 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutary coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase. Expressions of both the LDL receptor and HMG-CoA reductase genes are normally under end product repression by cellular cholesterol. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Immunological recognition and tumor escape mechanisms of ovarian carcinoma

    Författare :Håkan Norell; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Tumor immunology; Immune escape; Antitumor immunity; Ovarian carcinoma; NK cells; HLA class 1; LOH; IFN-γ; CTL; HLA-G; HLA-E; Activating receptors; NK cell-based therapy;

    Sammanfattning : Ovarian carcinoma is a leading cause of cancer mortality and there is an urgent need for new and better therapeutic modalities that result in improved long-term outcome for this severe malignancy. One promising treatment modality for patients suffering from ovarian carcinoma is immunotherapy. LÄS MER
