Sammanfattning : Introduction: In the literature it is recognized that stroke can have lifelong consequences and that these consequences become evident in the occupations that constitute everyday life. With an increase in prevalence and in the number of stroke survivors returning to independent living there is a need to understand the challenges that may face stroke survivors, not just in a short perspective, but also in the chronic phase of stroke where new or different challenges may present in many areas of life. 17. The long-term injured competitive athlete : A study of psychosocial risk factors
Sammanfattning : The thesis includes five separate studies concerned mainly with psychosocial aspects of the problems that athletes afflicted with long-term sport injuries face. The first study deals with relationships between personality variables, coping strategies and mood-levels, both in athletes participating in competitive sports and in a non-athlete reference groups. The purpose is also to investigate the light scattering properties in excised eye lenses, and to compare these properties with light transmission for different wavelengths in aging and cataractous lenses.
