26. Isotope labeling of proteins for spectroscopic studies
Sammanfattning : Protein structural dynamics have been closely tied to the molecular mechanisms controlling for example enzyme activities. In my work, I have mainly studied the bacteriophytochrome from Deinococcus radiodurans. LÄS MER
27. Probing the effects of photodegradation of acceptor materials in polymer solar cells: bulk, surface, and molecular level
Sammanfattning : Polymer solar cells (PSC) have reached record power conversion efficiencies of over 15%. The operational lifetime of PSCs, however, has to increase for their use in large area outdoor applications. LÄS MER
28. Generation and metrology of ultrashort pulses and their application in attosecond science
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the dynamical processes in atoms and small molecules initiated by the absorption of ultrashort, coherent light pulses. The studied phenomena takeplace on the femtosecond (1 fs = 10−15 s) and attosecond (1 as = 10−18 s) timescales and critically depend on the properties of the light fields that drive them. LÄS MER
29. Surface chemistry of Al and Si (hydr)oxides, with emphasis on nano-sized gibbsite (α-Al(OH)3)
Sammanfattning : This thesis contains an introduction to the surface chemistry of minerals in aqueous environment, and a summary of five manuscripts concerning adsorption reactions at the surfaces of nano-sized gibbsite (α-Al(OH)3), amorphous silica and kaolinite. Nano-sized gibbsite was synthesized and thoroughly characterized using X-ray diffraction, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. 30. Excitation and Ground-State Properties of Natural and Modified Nucleic Acid Bases
Sammanfattning : The nucleic acid bases are the carriers of genetic information in DNA and RNA. They are also the main chromophores of nucleic acids and determine their optical properties and sensitivity to UV radiation. LÄS MER
