16. A Co-Simulation Tool Applied to Hydraulic Percussion Units
Sammanfattning : In this dissertation, a co-simulation tool is presented that is meant to comprise a more comprehensive environment for modelling and simulation of hydraulic percussion units, which are used in hydraulic hammers and rock drills. These units generates the large impact forces, which are needed to demolish concrete structures in the construction industry or to fragment rock when drilling blast holes in mine drifting. LÄS MER
17. Numerical simulations of flow discharge and behaviours in spillways
Sammanfattning : A spillway is an important component of a dam and serves as a flood release structure. It achieves controlled discharge of water and protects the dam from overtopping. The majority of the hydropower dams were built before the 1980s, and many spillways are undersized in light of the present design flood guidelines. LÄS MER
18. Network Modelling for Evaluation of Mechanical Properties of Cellulose Fibre Fluff
Sammanfattning : A network mechanics model for cellulose fibre fluff is proposed. 2D and 3D versions of the model have been implemented and the influence of various micro-level parameters on the global mechanical performance has been determined by means of computer simulations. LÄS MER
19. Soil compaction: effects on soil hydraulic properties and preferential water flow
Sammanfattning : Soil compaction caused by passage of agricultural machinery over the surface is an issue in many agricultural soils with a high clay content. Compaction is known to modify soil pore structure and soil hydraulic properties, but can also affect the occurrence of preferential flow. LÄS MER
20. Multi-Scale Surface Water-Groundwater Interaction : Implications for GroundwaterDischarge Patterns
Sammanfattning : Rivers and aquifers are continuously exchanging water, driven by processes that occur on various temporal and spatial scales, ranging from small streambed features to large geological structures. The interaction between these two components occurs in permeable sediments below the stream channel, called the hyporheic zone. LÄS MER
