11. Metadata Management in Multi-Grids and Multi-Clouds
Sammanfattning : Grid computing and cloud computing are two related paradigms used to access and use vast amounts of computational resources. The resources are often owned and managed by a third party, relieving the users from the costs and burdens of acquiring and managing a considerably large infrastructure themselves. LÄS MER
12. Managing Applications and Data in Distributed Computing Infrastructures
Sammanfattning : During the last decades the demand for large-scale computational and storage resources in science has increased dramatically. New computational infrastructures enable scientists to enter a new mode of science, e-science, which complements traditional theory and experiments. LÄS MER
13. Modeling and constructing unstructured overlay networks: Algorithms, techniques and the Smart Grid case
Sammanfattning : Throughout its lifetime, the Internet was always associated with overlay networks; from the WorldWideWeb and peer-to-peer networks to blogs and social networking solutions, overlays built on the Internet infrastructure gave it additional value and made it more engaging to everyday users. Today, rising overlay networks such as the Smart Grid as well as a multitude of sensor, mobile andwireless networks herald a new era of unprecedented connectivity and networking. LÄS MER
14. Exploration of extended Higgs sectors, development of a displaced track trigger, and improvements in GRID middleware
Sammanfattning : Two possible solutions to the Standard Model (SM) fine-tuning problem are presented in this thesis, MSSM and Compositeness. The Higgs sector of the MSSM can be tested by searching for charged Higgs bosons. Two direct searches for charged Higgs bosons decaying into a top- and bottom-quark are performed using 13.2 and 36. 15. Parallel computing in model-based process engineering
Sammanfattning : Chemical processes are usually expensive to run. To optimise a process, we need to know how the process behaves, and this is usually accomplished by studying the process experimentally. However, experiments are very expensive, particularly if an existing plant has to shut down normal operation to conduct an experiment. LÄS MER
