  1. 6. RUNX1/AML1 functions and mechanisms regulating granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor transcription

    Författare :Hebin Liu; Sven Påhlman; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :RUNX1 AML1; Granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor GM-CSF ; Calcineurin; CaMKII; Ets1; Transforming growth factor-b TGF-b ; Smad3; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) is a multipotent cytokine involved in the production and function of hematopoietic cells, and GM-CSF plays in particular a major role in responses to infection and physiological and pathological inflammatory processes. GM-CSF is produced in many cell types, and increases in the intracellular Ca2+ concentration are, like in many other systems, of major importance in the intracellular signaling that determines GM-CSF expression after receptor stimulation of the cells. 2. 7. Islet xenotransplantation : An immunological study in the pig-to-mouse model

    Författare :Birgitta Benda; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; xenotransplantation; porcine; islet; in vivo; knock-out mouse; immunohistochemistry; CsA; MDL 201; 449A; Ig; FcR; IL-6; perforin; granzyme B; macrophage; eosinophilic granulocyte; T cell; TCR; IFN- g; TNF- a; IL-2; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; Clinical Immunology; klinisk immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : Successful clinical xenotransplantation, i.e., transplantation between species, would eliminate the shortage of donor organs. In order to study the acute cellular rejection reaction following discordant xenogeneic transplantation, an experimental pig-to- mouse islet xenotransplantation model was established. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Graft-versus-Host Disease: Eosinophils, Chimerism and Clinical Features in Patients Undergoing Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell or Multivisceral Transplantation

    Författare :Julia Cromvik; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; graft-versus-host disease; eosinophilic granulocyte; intestinal transplantation; multivisceral transplantation; chimerism analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract Graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) is a potentially severe complication that may develop after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). It can also occur after transplantation with isolated intestinal grafts or after multivisceral transplantation (MVTX). GVHD is difficult to diagnose. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Granulocyte activation by danger signals and blocking of receptor responses

    Författare :Anna-Lena Stenfeldt; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; granulocytes; neutrophils; eosinophils; danger signals; danger theory; formyl peptide receptors; antagonists; inhibitors;

    Sammanfattning : Granulocytes are the most abundant cells in the peripherial blood. They serve to eliminate invading microbes and parasites and release anti-microbial agents. In the event of injury, granulocytes are recruited to damaged tissues. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Studies of Eosinophil Cationic Protein (ECP) in vivo and in vitro : Impact of Genetic and Posttranslational Modifications

    Författare :Jenny Eriksson; Per Venge; Agneta Trulson; Ester Boix; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Biomedicine; Eosinophil granulocyte; granular protein; ECP; gene polymorphism; cytotoxicity; SELDI-TOF MS; glycosylation; molecular and functional heterogeneity; fibrosis; Biomedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Eosinophil granulocytes are tissue dwelling leukocytes that are implicated in host defence, particularly against helminthic parasites; they also participate in most inflammatory disorders. Although eosinophils have important roles in host defence mechanisms, their actions can also be harmful to the host as in the allergic inflammation where lung epithelium is destructed due to the release of toxic granule proteins.
