1. B cell activation in vitro: thymus-dependent immune responses and bacterial cell surface proteins
Sammanfattning : In this thesis aspects of peripheral B lymphocyte differentiation were studied. Through in vitro experiments, B lymphocyte activation was assessed. B lymphocytes express immunoglobulin (Ig) specific for a certain antigen on the cell surface, and when surface Ig is crosslinked by an antigen, the cell is activated. LÄS MER
2. Islet xenotransplantation : An immunological study in the pig-to-mouse model
Sammanfattning : Successful clinical xenotransplantation, i.e., transplantation between species, would eliminate the shortage of donor organs. In order to study the acute cellular rejection reaction following discordant xenogeneic transplantation, an experimental pig-to- mouse islet xenotransplantation model was established. LÄS MER
3. Inga IG i Kemi A : En språkdidaktisk studie av en kemilärares undervisningsstrategier i en gymnasieklass med elever med svenska som andraspråk
Sammanfattning : As global migration escalates, the number of students with Swedish as their second language entering high school in Sweden also increases. This demographic and linguistic change in the mainstream classroom has forced the role of language in teaching/learning to surface. LÄS MER
4. Immunoglobulin-binding bacterial surface proteins; biomedical tools and virulence factors
Sammanfattning : Many bacteria express immunoglobulin(Ig)-binding proteins that interact with Ig in a non-immune manner. Several of these Ig-binding bacterial proteins have been well characterized and are widely used as reagents for analysis and purification of Ig's. LÄS MER
5. B cell repertoire development in normal physiology and autoimmune disease
Sammanfattning : The B cell repertoire in the neonatal immune system (IS) is characterised by reactivity towards self-components, including other immunoglobulin (Ig) V-regions. These properties have been suggested to be a requirement for the development of a normal immune system. LÄS MER
