  2. 12. The Role of Innate Immunity in Islet Transplantation : Clinical and Experimental Studies

    Författare :Lisa Moberg; Bo Nilsson; Olle Korsgren; Kristina Nilsson Ekdahl; Rolf Larsson; David Harlan; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; diabetes; islet transplantation; islet of Langerhans; coagulation activation; IBMIR; tissue factor; thrombin; inactivated FVIIa; melagatran; neutrophilic granulocyte; Immunologi; Immunology; Immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : Clinical islet transplantation is an emerging procedure to cure type 1 diabetes. The graft is implanted by infusion into the liver through the portal vein. A major obstacle that still needs to be overcome is the requirement for islets from multiple donors to achieve insulin independence. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Redox effects on neutrophils in wound healing conducted by wound dressings and hyperbaric oxygen

    Författare :Herman Sahlin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :neutrophil granulocyte; wound healing; wound dressing; reactive oxygen species; NO; hyperbaric oxygen; bacterial killing;

    Sammanfattning : The increased influx of neutrophils into chronic wounds results in increased production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), nitric oxide (NO) and lipid peroxidation products (LPP), as well as a ROS-induced increase in protease levels. The NO and LPP impair the respiratory burst response of the neutrophils and reduce their capacity to kill bacteria and digest debris. LÄS MER

  5. 15. The importance of monocyte and granulocyte activation in rheumatoid arthritis and primary Sjögren's syndrome

    Författare :Ingunn Torsteinsdóttir; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; Rheumatoid arthritis; primary Sjögren s syndrome; peripheral blood; monocyte; macrophage; neutrophil; eosinophil; adhesion; phagocytosis; respiratory burst; CRP; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Clinical Chemistry; klinisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Macrophages and neutrophils infiltrate the synovium and synovial fluid in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). These cells are considered to contribute to the destructive process in RA.The expression of adhesion and phagocytosis receptors on the surface of peripheral granulocytes and monocytes was increased in patients with RA.
