  1. 26. Strain quantifications in different tectonic scales using numerical modelling

    Författare :Lukas Fuchs; Hemin Koyi; Susanne Buiter; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Deformation modelling; progressive and finite deformation; salt tectonics; down-built diapir; upper mantle; lithosphere-asthenosphere boundary; seismic anisotropy; plate-mantle de coupling; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot mineralogi; petrologi och tektonik; Earth Science with specialization in Mineral Chemistry; Petrology and Tectonics;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on calculation of finite and progressive deformation in different tectonic scales using 2D numerical models with application to natural cases. Essentially, two major tectonic areas have been covered: a) salt tectonics and b) upper mantle deformation due to interaction between the lithosphere and asthenosphere. LÄS MER

  2. 27. Fatigue Analysis of Welded Structures Using the Finite Element Method

    Författare :Mustafa Aygül; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hot spot stress; effective notch stress; the finite element method; orthotropic bridge deck; welded details;

    Sammanfattning : Fatigue design and analysis of steel and composite bridges is generally based on the notion of the nominal stress using the classified S-N curves with corresponding fatigue classes for typical details. Such an approach can yield unrealistic the estimation of the load effects for structure components because of an ever increasing number of structural details and loading situations resulting in a limited number of possible treatable design cases. 3. 28. Fatigue evaluation of welded details – using the finite element method

    Författare :Mustafa Aygül; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; the finite element method; welded details; effective notch stress method; Hot-spot stress method; fracture mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : The fatigue evaluation of welded details is generally based on the notion of nominal stress, using the classified S-N curves with corresponding fatigue classes for typical details. An approach of this kind should be used with extra caution to ensure that the load effects for components are accurately captured, because an ever-increasing number of welded details are resulting in a limited number of possible treatable design cases. 4. 29. Mechanical Characterisation of Coatings and Composites-Depth-Sensing Indentation and Finite Element Modelling

    Författare :Zhi-Hui Xu; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :dept-sensing indentation; nanoindentation; finite element method; atomic force microscope;

    Sammanfattning : In the past two decades depth-sensing indentation has becomea widely used technique to measure the mechanical properties ofmaterials. This technique is particularly suitable for thecharacterisation of materials at sub-micro or nano scale thoughthere is a tendency to extend its application to the micro ormacro scale. LÄS MER

  5. 30. Constitutive models based on dislocation density : formulation and implementation into finite element codes

    Författare :Konstantin Domkin; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Datorstödd maskinkonstruktion; Computer Aided Design;

    Sammanfattning : Correct description of the material behaviour is an extra challenge in simulation of the materials processing and manufacturing processes such as metal forming. Material models must account for varying strain, strain rate and temperature, and changing microstructure. LÄS MER
