21. Coded Modulation Techniques in Fiber-Optical Communications
Sammanfattning : Today's high demand for increasing the data transmission rate motivates a great challenge to improve the spectral efficiency of fiber-optical channels. In order to achieve a higher spectral efficiency, exploiting an advanced coded modulation scheme is inevitable. LÄS MER
22. Silicone biomaterials obtained by plasma treatment and subsequent surface hydrosilylation
Sammanfattning : The need for safe and functional implants has led to anincreased demand for improved biomaterials. The performance invivo depends on the interaction between the biologicalsurrounding and the surface of the material. LÄS MER
23. Modelling and simulation of paper structure development
Sammanfattning : A numerical tool has been developed for particle-level simulations of fibre suspension flows, particularly forming of the fibre network structure of paper sheets in the paper machine. The model considers inert fibres of various equilibrium shapes, and finite stiffness, interacting with each other through normal, frictional, and lubrication forces, and with the surrounding fluid medium through hydrodynamic forces. 24. Fiber-optic communications with microresonator frequency combs
Sammanfattning : Modern data communication links target ever-higher information throughput. To utilize the available bandwidth in a single strand of fiber, optical communication links often require a large number of lasers, each operating at a different wavelength. LÄS MER
25. A Framework for Fatigue Analysis of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer Structures
Sammanfattning : Our society depends on functional road communication, and Heavy Duty Vehicles (HDVs) offer convenient and limitless possibilities of transport and services. However, HDVs account for a quarter of the European Union's CO2 road emissions. There is a substantial need to reduce the CO2 emissions of HDVs to ensure a low negative environmental impact. LÄS MER
