6. G protein-coupled receptor regulation: The role of protein interactions and receptor trafficking
Sammanfattning : The superfamily of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCR) is the largest gene family in the human genome. GPCR-mediated signaling operates in every human cell, and about 50% of existing clinically useful drugs act through GPCR. LÄS MER
7. Biogas Production from Citrus Wastes and Chicken Feather : Pretreatment and Co-digestion
Sammanfattning : Anaerobic digestion is a sustainable and economically feasible waste management technology, which lowers the emission of greenhouse gases (GHGs), decreases the soil and water pollution, and reduces the dependence on fossil fuels. The present thesis investigates the anaerobic digestion of waste from food-processing industries, including citrus wastes (CWs) from juice processing and chicken feather from poultry slaughterhouses. 8. Design and stereoselective syntheses of Phe-Phe dipeptidomimetics
Sammanfattning : Several stereochemically well characterized Phe-Phe dipeptidomimetics have been designed and synthesized. The Phe-Phe vinyl isostere was used as a key intermediate. The synthesized series of mimetics includes two isomeric epoxides, four 1,2-dihydroxyethylene isomers, two isomeric allylic alcohols and two isomeric allylic fluorides. LÄS MER
9. Cell wall remodeling proteins in Mycobacterium tuberculosis : structure, function and inhibition
Sammanfattning : The complex and peculiar cell wall architecture is vital for the survival of M. tuberculosis in the host and therefore an established target for several currently used drugs. LÄS MER
10. The Impact of Substance P (SP) N-Terminal Metabolite SP1-7 in Opioid Tolerance and Withdrawal
Sammanfattning : The heptapeptide SP1-7, a metabolite of the neuroactive peptide substance P (SP), is suggested to play a role in opioid addiction and memory function. These two dimensions are known to involve dopamine and glutamate transmissions mediated through dopamine receptors and N-methyl-D- aspartate (NNMA) receptors, respectively. LÄS MER
