  1. 36. Bacteria that escape predation : waterborne pathogens and their relatives

    Författare :Karolina I. A. Eriksson; Agneta Andersson; Johanna Thelaus; Jon Ahlinder; David Sundell; Klaus Jürgens; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; bacterial pathogens; protozoa; predation resistance; aquatic microbiology; climate change; opportunists; humification; iron; environmental science; miljövetenskap; mikrobiologi; Microbiology;

    Sammanfattning : The hidden presence of opportunistic bacterial pathogens in the environment evokes concerns about emerging diseases, especially in the light of climate change. The co-evolution of bacteria and their predators (protozoa) has led to bacterial defence strategies of which some contribute to the ability of bacteria to cause disease. LÄS MER

  2. 37. Causes and consequences of individual variation in anti-predator traits

    Författare :Kaj Hulthén; Enhet akvatisk ekologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Animal migration; partial migration; individual differences; predator; personality trait; phenotypic plasticity; inducible defence; mortality risk;

    Sammanfattning : Predation imposes a potent evolutionary force on prey, moulding the evolution of traits and diversification of species, and can furthermore have powerful ecological consequences. We know that different species vary in how they cope with their natural enemies, and, consequently, a huge range of anti-predator defences are displayed in nature. LÄS MER

  3. 38. Denitrification: from genes to ecosystems

    Författare :Christopher Jones; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Denitrification is a part of the global nitrogen cycle in which fixed nitrogen in the biosphere is returned to the atmosphere, which is mediated by diverse communities of microorganisms. This thesis seeks to gain a greater understanding of the ecology of denitrifying microorganisms by examining the pathway from four different aspects; gene, population, community, and ecosystem. 4. 39. Attribute-based Approaches for Secure Data Sharing in Industry

    Författare :Alex Chiquito; Ulf Bodin; Olov Schelén; Pál Varga; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Access Control; NGAC; Fine-grained; IoT; Industry 4.0; Encryption; flexible; Cyber-Physical Systems; Cyberfysiska system;

    Sammanfattning : The Industry 4.0 revolution relies heavily on data to generate value, innovation, new services, and optimize current processes [1]. Technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), machine learning, digital twins, and much more depend directly on data to bring value and innovation to both discrete manufacturing and process industries. 5. 40. What Can Nature Withstand? : Science, Politics and Discourses in Transboundary Air Pollution Diplomacy

    Författare :Karin Bäckstrand; Statsvetenskapliga institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Political and administrative sciences; discourse analysis; constructivism; science–policy interface; critical loads; international environmental politics; transboundary air pollution; Environmental law; Statsvetenskap; förvaltningskunskap; Miljörätt;

    Sammanfattning : Long-range transboundary air pollution generates pressing environmental problems such as the acidification of lakes and soils, forest decline and loss of biodiversity as well as threats to human health across Europe. The overall aim of this study is to explore the role of scientific expertise in environmental diplomacy by analyzing recent international agreements in the transboundary air pollution (LRTAP) regime.
