  1. 26. Understanding mobile service diffusion as an evolutionary process: A study of the Swedish market

    Författare :Tsani Annafari; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; social evolution; mobile service; Innovation diffusion; variation; data granularity; diffusion modeling; selective retention;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis aims to highlight the connections between the diffusion of innovation theory and the evolutionary models for technological changes within the context of mobile communication research. On the basis of empirical findings, the discussion focuses on addressing three research questions: Why should mobile service diffusion be understood as an evolutionary process? How should mobile service diffusion be explained and modelled using evolutionary conceptions? And in what way the evolutionary framework could influence future mobile service diffusion studies?Based on empirical observations and a literature study, this thesis argues that mobile service diffusion involves dynamic, developmental and historical economic process which is comparable to an evolutionary process. 2. 27. The estrogen receptor in fish and effects of synthetic estrogens in the environment - Ecological and evolutionary perspectives and societal awareness

    Författare :Lina Nikoleris; Biodiversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; the estrogen receptor; salmon evolution and ecology; contraceptives; information gaps; synthetic hormones; EE2; Atlantic salmon Salmo salar ; brown trout Salmo trutta ; roach Rutilus rutilus ;

    Sammanfattning : Synthetic hormones are a group of pharmaceuticals used for various human and animal treatments. However, consumption and disposal of these substances have also given rise to negative effects and environmental problems for organisms in the wild which is why these substances have been classified as estrogenic endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs). 3. 28. Peatland dynamics in response to past and potential future climate change : A regional modelling approach

    Författare :Nitin Chaudhary; BECC: Biodiversity and Ecosystem services in a Changing Climate; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PEATLANDS; PERMAFROST; Carbon accumulation; Microtopography; LPJ-GUESS; Earth system models;

    Sammanfattning : The majority of the northern peatlands developed during the Holocene as a result of a positive mass balance between net primary productivity (NPP) and heterotrophic decomposition rates. Over that time they have sequestered a huge amount of carbon in terrestrial ecosystems. LÄS MER

  4. 29. Solar Activity Changes at the End of the Last Ice Age - Influences on Climate and Applications for Dating

    Författare :Florian Adolphi; BECC: Biodiversity and Ecosystem services in a Changing Climate; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Solar Activity; 10Be; 14C; radiocarbon calibration; time scale; geochronology; paleoclimate; ice cores; tree rings; IntCal; cosmogenic radionuclides;

    Sammanfattning : Throughout its history Earth experienced a variety of natural climate changes. By investigating their spatial and temporal evolution we can increase the understanding of the mechanisms and dynamics underlying natural climate change and improve our general comprehension of the climate system. 5. 30. Stability and complexity of ecosystems - Global interaction constraints, landscape and extinctions

    Författare :Susanne Pettersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Complexity; Collapse; Stability; Ecosystems; Extinctions; Population dynamics; spatial heterogeneity; Dynamical systems; dispersal;

    Sammanfattning : Human society's expansion and demand for both biotic and abiotic natural resources exert a large pressure on ecosystems around the globe. Ecosystems are complex networks of species interacting with each other and their physical surroundings. LÄS MER
