  1. 21. "I wanted to know how this deed was done" : Raul Hilberg, the Holocaust and History

    Författare :Olof Bortz; Pär Frohnert; Lars M Andersson; Tim Cole; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Raul Hilberg; Holocaust historiography; political science; American intellectual history; Jewish history; History; historia; Historia;

    Sammanfattning : Raul Hilberg was a pioneer of Holocaust studies and for many decades the Holocaust scholar par excellence. He embarked upon the study of the Nazi genocide after the war, and established the understanding of the Holocaust as a bureaucratically administered “destruction process,” carried out by men who were not different from the German population in general. 2. 22. The role of pain modulation in non-suicidal self-injury

    Författare :Jens Fust; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Individuals with non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) behavior tend to report feeling little or no pain when they self-injure. Moreover, in laboratory studies the NSSI population tends to demonstrate reduced sensitivity to painful stimuli. There is reason to believe that hypoalgesia could be a risk factor for developing and maintaining NSSI. LÄS MER

  3. 23. A Purkinje cell Timing Mechanism. On the Physical Basis of a Temporal Duration Memory

    Författare :Fredrik Johansson; Associativ inlärning; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cerebellum; Purkinje cell; Timing; Temporal; Memory; Eyeblink conditioning; mGluR7; Kir3; GIRK;

    Sammanfattning : The standard view of neural signaling is that a neuron can influence its target cell by exciting or inhibiting it. Learning is thought to involve strengthening or weakening synaptic connections. For most behaviors, the brain must learn to produce precisely timed activity patterns. LÄS MER

  4. 24. The role of the G protein-coupled receptor ChemR23 in cardiovascular inflammation

    Författare :Gonzalo Artiach Castañón; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Cardiovascular inflammation is a biological process characterized by the immune cell response to harmful stimuli within the cardiovascular system, wherein homeostasis is reestablished by neutralizing the insult and promoting the repair of the damaged tissue. However, a failure in the resolution of inflammation can lead to a maladaptive inflammatory response, contributing to the development of cardiovascular diseases such as aortic valve stenosis (AVS) and atherosclerosis, as well as vascular complications such as intimal hyperplasia. 5. 25. Influence of serotonin on anxiety-like behavior in rat

    Författare :Robert Pettersson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anxiety; Serotonin; SSRI;

    Sammanfattning : It is well-established that serotonin is involved in the regulation of mood and behaviour, partly implied by the therapeutic effect of prolonged treatment with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI) on mood and anxiety disorders. However, the mechanisms behind the paradoxical exacerbation of anxiety described during initial treatment, as well as behind the therapeutic effects of prolonged treatment with SSRIs, remain poorly understood.
