  1. 41. Resistant pneumococci and use of antibiotics

    Författare :Eva Melander; Malmö Klinisk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; bakteriologi; Mikrobiologi; mycology; virology; streptococcus pneumoniae; Antibiotics; drug resistance; bacteriology; Microbiology; virologi; mykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Pneumococcal resistance to antibiotics has become a worldwide problem. The rapid increase in frequency seems to be caused by intercontinental spread of a few resistant clones. Resistance to antibiotics in pneumococci has reduced the therapeutic arsenal for common respiratory tract infections as well as for invasive infections. LÄS MER

  2. 42. Interactions between Streptococcus pyogenes and the human immune system, with special reference to C4b-binding protein

    Författare :Anette Thern; Avdelningen för medicinsk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Microbiology; Phagocytosis; M-proteins; M-like proteins; Bovine C4b-binding protein; Streptococcus pyogenes; Human C4b-binding protein; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi;

    Sammanfattning : The ability of many pathogenic microorganisms to cause infection is dependent on their ability to evade attack by the complement system of the host. One mechanism by which microorganisms may avoid complement attack is to bind complement inhibitory molecules present in the host. LÄS MER

  3. 43. Influenza A virus in wild birds

    Författare :Anders Wallensten; Björn Olsen; Lennart Svensson; Åke Lundkvist; Mikael Berg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Influenza A virus; Wild Birds; Ducks; Prevalence; Ecology; Virology; Virologi;

    Sammanfattning : Influenza virus is a RNA virus that exists as different types and subtypes. Influenza A virus strains are known to cause disease in several bird and mammalian species. Wild birds are believed to constitute the natural reservoir for influenza A virus. LÄS MER

  4. 44. Development of Real-Time PCR Based Methods for Detection of Viruses and Virus Antibodies

    Författare :Amal Elfaitouri; Jonas Blomberg; Helene Norder; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Microbiology; Real-time PCR; broadly targeted PCR; degenerated PCR; rTth DNA polymerase; thermolabile UNG; QPIA; IgM; Mikrobiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Quantitative real-time PCR (QPCR) technology has been very useful for diagnosis of viral diseases. QPCR has recently reached a level of sensitivity, simplicity, and reproducibility which allows a large number of samples to be screened rapidly, make it a suitable tool for the clinical virology diagnostics. 5. 45. Specific T- and B-cell responses against human cytomegalovirus after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation

    Författare :Lena Catry; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Human cytomegalovirus (CMV) remains an important complication in allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). CMV-reactivation may lead to CMV-disease associated with high morbidity and mortality in patients after HSCT. LÄS MER
