21. Investigations of Flow Conditions in an Automotive Wind Tunnel
Sammanfattning : As vehicle manufacturers seek to shorten the development time of new models, wind tunnel testing of prototype vehicles needs to be partially replaced by virtual simulations. However, this requires thorough validation of the virtual methods, which is done by comparison to wind tunnel tests. LÄS MER
22. Detached Eddy Simulation for Aerospace Applications
Sammanfattning : With the continuous growth in air traffic that we see nowadays, comes an increase in the requirements needed to be satisfied in order to certify an aircraft for operation. These stricter regulations affect aspects such as CO2 emissions, sound pollution and so on, pushing manufacturers to aim for lighter, more efficient, more robust designs. LÄS MER
23. Energy and Route Optimization of Moving Devices
Sammanfattning : This thesis highlights our efforts in energy and route optimization of moving devices. We have focused on three categories of such devices; industrial robots in a multi-robot environment, generic vehicles in a vehicle routing problem (VRP) context, automated guided vehicles (AGVs) in a large-scale flexible manufacturing system (FMS). 24. Vehicle Dynamics Control for Active Safety Functions using Electrified Drivelines
Sammanfattning : Studies have shown that even considering pledges and commitments made by various governments and organisations, the growth in electrified vehicle sales is likely to be insufficient to reduce CO2 emissions for mitigating global warming. Some form of added incentive is needed that can help drive electrified vehicle sales in the open market. LÄS MER
25. The effects of long chain alcohol blends on engine performance and spray characteristics in CI engines
Sammanfattning : Replacing fossil fuels with alternatives derived from renewable sources is one way of meeting society’s increasing need for mobility while also significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles with internal combustion engines. To facilitate such a replacement, this thesis presents optical spray studies and engine experiments conducted to evaluate the potential of blends of biomass-derived alcohols and vegetable oils to serve as drop-in fuels for compression ignition engines.
