  1. 21. Immunological and virologica response to antiretroviral treatment (art) in patients infected with different HIV-1 genetic subtypes

    Författare :Ann Atlas; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :HIV- 1 genetic subtype; CD4 T cell count; viral load; activation markers; IL-7;

    Sammanfattning : Genetic analyses of different strains of HIV- 1 have shown that isolates can be subdivided into groups, subtypes and circulating recombinant forms. Nine different genetic HIV-1 subtypes have been identified so far, named as A, B, C, D, F, G, H, J and K. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Design and development of electrochemical sensors with application in bioanalysis

    Författare :Kinga Zor; Bioteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; bioanalysis; electrochemistry; sensor; biosensor; miniaturization; real sample; immunoassay; μTAS;

    Sammanfattning : There is a continuous search for reliable, robust, easy to use, portable and cost effective analytical tools with applications in food industry, biomedicine, environmental monitoring and homeland security. The main focus of this thesis is the development of electrochemical (bio)sensors and bioanalysis systems (to be applied in two major fields of interest: food & beverage industry and biomedical research) for monitoring key analytes in complex matrices, such as: meat samples, fermentation broths, and cell culture media. 3. 23. Histochemical, biochemical and electrophysiological studies on dorsal root ganglion cultures : focusing on galanin, neuropeptide Y and glutamate

    Författare :Nora Kerekes; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Acute and long-term DRG cultures; aFGF; BDNF; bFGF; bradykinin; excitability; galanin; glutamate; leukemia inhibitory factor; neuropeptide Y; : NGF; regeneration; whole cell patch clamp.;

    Sammanfattning : Galanin (Gal) and neuropeptide Y (NPY) are two peptides, which are strongly up- regulated in a population of dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons after peripheral nerve injury (axotomy). Both peptides may be involved in the control of pain sensation, especially after nerve injury (neuropathic pain). LÄS MER

  4. 24. Fabrication advances of microvasculature models on-chip

    Författare :Federico Cantoni; Maria Tenje; Niels Larsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; 2-photon polymerization 3D printing; multi-hydrogel structure; vascula-ture model; microphysiological systems; organ-on-chip;

    Sammanfattning : Despite the technological advances of the last decades, drug development remains a lengthy and costly process with uncertainties still associated with the poor predictive power of the in vitro and animal models. To address this limitation, microphysiological systems have been introduced in an attempt to increase the biological relevance of in vitro devices. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Specification and potency of human neural stem cells for clinical transplantation

    Författare :Per Henrik Vincent; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Neural stem cells hold promise for future treatment of spinal cord injury. Various aspects regarding cell fate specification, manufacturing and monitoring, with implications for clinical applications of these cells, are discussed herein. LÄS MER
