  1. 1. Remote Sensing of Carbon Balance across Scandinavian Forests

    Författare :Pontus Olofsson; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Forests; Natural science; Naturvetenskap; Carbon balance; Remote sensing;

    Sammanfattning : A methodology for estimating the carbon balance across Scandinavian forests using remote sensing is presented. By estimating the gross primary production (GPP) and the ecosystem respiration (ER), and thereby, the net ecosystem exchange (NEE), using parameters that are routinely retrieved from satellite, it is possible to implement an operational model for obtaining large scale NEE. 2. 2. Aerosol Dynamics in Coniferous Forests - empirical and theoretical analyses

    Författare :Bo Wiman; Department of Ecology; []

  3. 3. Nitrogen in soil water of coniferous forests : effects of anthropogenic disturbances

    Författare :Martin Rappe George; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : In boreal and temperate forests, long-term elevated nitrogen (N) load may eventually saturate forest ecosystems with N, i.e. total N ecosystem input exceed ecosystem sinks for N, and N losses via soil water transport may then increase and negatively impact environmental quality. 4. 4. Monoterpenes from the boreal coniferous forest : their role in atmospheric chemistry

    Författare :Robert Janson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The goal of this work has been to increase our knowledge of the role of the monoteipenes emitted by the boreal coniferous forest in atmospheric chemical processes. To this end, measurements of air concentrations and emission rates have been made in forests of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) and Norwegian spruce (Picea abies) at 4 sites throughout Sweden, during the summers of 1989 and 1990. 5. 5. Ectomycorrhizal fungi: Their role in nitrogen retention and carbon sequestration in northern coniferous forests

    Författare :Adam Bahr; MEMEG; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ectomycorrhizal fungi; Carbon sequestration; Nitrogen deposition; Nitrogen leakage; Field survey; Boreo-nemoral forest; Boreal Forest; Ergosterol; Free ergosterol; Mesh-bags; Multivariate analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Almost all northern forest tree species live in symbioses with ectomycorrhizal fungi (EMF). The trees allocate up to half of the photoassimilated carbon (C) through the roots to EMF. In return EMF deliver nutrients from both inorganic and organic sources in the soil, as well as water.
