41. System studies of forest-based biomass gasification
Sammanfattning : Bioenergy will play an important role in reaching the EU targets for renewable energy. Sweden, with abundant forest resources and a well-established forest industry, has a key position regarding modern biomass use. LÄS MER
42. Partial carbon capture – an opportunity to decarbonize primary steelmaking
Sammanfattning : Climate change requires that all energy-related sectors drastically reduce their greenhouse gas emissions (GHG). To have a high likelihood of limiting global warming to 1.5°C, large-scale mitigation of GHG has to start being implemented and cause emissions to fall well before Year 2030. LÄS MER
43. Life-Cycle Energy and Carbon Implications of Wood-Based Products and Construction
Sammanfattning : Forests can be an important element of an overall strategy to limit the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) that contributes to climate change. As an integral part of the global carbon cycle, forests remove CO2 from the atmosphere as they grow, and accumulate carbon in tree biomass. LÄS MER
44. Comparative Assessment of Fuel-Based Systems for Space Heating
Sammanfattning : Replacing fossil fuels by biofuels and increasing energy efficiency are often considered to be options for reducing the net emission of greenhouse gases. This thesis presents the results of analyses of energy efficiency, emission and cost of whole energy system chains, from the natural resource to the end user when heating detached houses in a Swedish context. 45. Modeling the Potential for Carbon Removal in Agriculture: Integrating Farmer Perspectives
Sammanfattning : The overarching aim of this thesis is to provide insights into the dynamic processes governing SOC stocks and to identify viable paths for agricultural systems to contribute to climate change mitigation. By integrating current scientific knowledge of carbon sequestration in agriculture with feasible agricultural applications, this work proposes local realistic strategies for enhancing soil organic carbon (SOC) and presents a quantitative assessment of their potential for CO2 removal.
